Oh no. Useless gobblediegook at a discount. Whatever will we do?
I'm in tech, and while I see the potential of AI, I also see it's being fed crap for training and being manipulated by clowns. Under those conditions, it can never be trusted for anything other than a source of amusement.
There is no way that Chyna has the capability to manufacture the chips needed for AI applications - they have tried and failed. If they did manage to coble AI together it was made from sanctioned advanced chips that they managed to still get their hands on. I am withholding my judgement on this. Chyna is very good at facades and psyops. The timing of this release is suspect.

Like I have said in another thread:
China was lying about their tech for years, from electric cars to military hardware. Why wouldn't they lie about their AI achievements?
Because from what heard on Chinese Social media, their high-end computer development is in the dumps with companies folding and equipment getting sold for scrap. If their chip development is rolling along nicely, they wouldn't have problems on the domestic manufacturing.
So, my bet is that they stole the AI coding, probably have some illegally-gained hardware, and are vastly exaggerating the performance of their systems.
Exactly. They have very poor yields on the wafers they are able to produce and those still don't come anywhere near where we are in processing capabilities. They are several generations behind the West. They don't even have the advanced lithographic equipment to even try. Yes, they are several chip companies that have gone belly up this last year. There was another one just last month. They don't have anything that they haven't stolen and the rest they make up. There is more going on here than the surface propaganda would imply. I am waiting for the real AI techie nerds to chime in and give us the real scoop. The fact it is open source makes me pause. That is not something the CCP does unless they are on a fishing expedition. Proceed with caution.
Thought you might be interesting in this. Someone from China with expertise in how the CCP operates and does very good analysis. She brings up some really good points and rationale for her conclusions. She is leaning towards our thinking that there is something not right here and there is too much hype - typical with every fake thing the CCP promotes. I hope this will be worth your time. I have been waiting for someone to break this all down.
Breakthrough or bluff? DeepSeek and the hidden game of AI domination
I just don't understand open source on an open network - at best, we're just asking to be taken advantage of.
Open source is a great idea, but there needs to be a wall restricting open source to America and perhaps trusted allies. What good is a physical wall if commies can still peddle their influence online, and benefit from American work?
it's open source. That means people can make ChatGPT like back ends without having to use ChatGPT. Of course.. graphics and other things is a whole other game.
Just because it was made by China, the open-source part means anyone can copy it and improve it and use it as is. Even rip out any possible 'contact_CCP_and_send_them_details()' methods.

Maybe that will change someday.
Yup, just like what internet "search " engines became.
extra updoot for YOU!!!
Before we can successfully Boycott Chyna, we need to Make America Manufacture Again.
Did anyone here try this DeepSeek? I did. Tried asking bunch of times. Everytime I got "Error".
I think its safe to say that we are safe from this hype!

Upgraydd (two ds for a double dose of pimping) your LMStudio or whatever...
Had an error 2 days ago... last night if was fine
CCP attempt to wreck the economy. They know that’s there only chance to do us serious harm.
Maybe... but kinda like the statement "if the truth can kill it... then it needs to die"
these American companies fleecing the public with their new tulip bulbs are not wroth it.
Nvidia stock price was high due too: Supply chain financing and counting orders not yet purchased as sales.
the company they work with for this scam has a former Eron exec that is assisting in this scam.
Nvidia is going to implode regardless. the excuse of China is convenient
Agreed. Also a good ol blame game for a market crash
Pelosi cashed out 3 weeks ago

We need to protect American business and jobs!
Then we should have an AI the is better and cheaper

In other news WFH has fixed China's economy with 100% of the population now either working at a factory or from home.
It has and it will.

We could already to that... BUT it means we can do moar with the same hardware...
that's true too
It's open source.
The American companies are fleecing the American people.
OpenAI WAS opensource... Elon and others invested quite a bit in it... then altman pulled a bait and switch... kind of a billy bob gates dick move...
I don't have a problem with what these boys in chy na did...
Im kinda tired of everyone investing in the tulip bulbs of the day.
It's just software.
Moores law still in play.
