I think FAFO is just starting. My window into libworld is big and they are coming apart. My wife had one girl on a concall burst into tears and leave the meeting the other day. I asked if it was because of the plane crash at DCA. She says "no, Trump broke her".
PS - I think of your handle every time my dog Zeus does something warranting a swearing - usually tripping me up.
Belgian Malinois. He's a goofy 2.5 yo. Show dog lines. Had both his femurs broken at 4 mo when breeder accidentally backed over him. She rehab'd him for a year and we got him as a breeder surrender at 16 mo. Zeus has a little hitch to his walk but he can move. He's absolutely stunning - long hair and brindle coat. My other Malinois is a 4 yo female, fawn w/ black mask. She's my service dog and is incredible.
Great Dane Zeus. Check. Thought it was God Dammit Zeus.
Belgian Malinois are beautiful, amazingly smart dogs.
We’ve had 2 boxers, 2 Danes and now 2 pitbulls. Well one is pit/rottie mix. Our Dane Zeus died at 6 yrs old from bone cancer and he was a therapy dog that I trained, went to hospital, Alzheimer’s center and other places … Our female Dane passed at 13 yrs, she was a freaking character! Lord, she would argue with us, loved to get her shirts on, she was a diva, lol. She had allergies and during the summer we’d put shirts on her because she loved rolling in the grass. And her all time favorite thing was to catch frisbees.
Where Zeus was very calm, quite and still… Bella was the total opposite 😂 she always wanted attention.
Great Dane Zeus. Check. Thought it was God Dammit Zeus.
I've had dogs my entire life. Mostly German shepherds, but a lab, and a spaniel too. Dogs are a gift from God.
I love great danes and very surprised that yours lived to 13. Very long life.
Mals are a commitment. Someone (including me) is always nursing an injury. Both of mine are pretty low drive for Mals. My girl can get a bit crazy - she has an on/off switch. When her vest is on she's chill AF.
A bunch of folks I know at my local cigar lounge only know her in service dog mode. One day, when I was leaving, I invited some out to see her w/o vest on. I got out a big Ray Allen tug and handed it to someone. I gave her the command of "hit it" and she almost took this guy off his feet from 5 feet away.
Yes, I can see if she has her vest on she’s different, she knows she’s now in working mode and acts accordingly.
For Zeus, it was bandanas. He knew when I put one on him it was time to work.
I gave her the command of "hit it" and she almost took this guy off his feet from 5 feet away.
lol, would love to have seen that! Mals are so impressive. You’re right they are a commitment and the owner has to know how to handle them.
I started to train Zeus to help me with some things, like stairs (stopped on each step so I could use him for balance), my knees aren’t the best, so if I kneeled or squatted down, he positioned himself beside me so I could use him to pull myself up (I didn’t & never would have put my weight on him to pull myself up, just needed something to hold as I stood up).
I had anxiety going through tunnels, he helped me get over them. I would have to drive him to an area of town that I had to drive through a tunnel, it would leave me in tears (so damn stupid I always felt, I couldn’t understand where this anxiety all of a sudden came from). Anyway, the closer we got to the tunnel, Zeus would sit forward on the back seat, lean forward and put his chin on my shoulder until we were through the tunnel. I never taught him that, he just did it on his own, he must have sensed that I was having a problem. Bestest boy ever. Miss that 150 lb good boy.
He was such a calm still dog, huge, black with a white chest. We could stand in the store or wherever and some people wouldn’t even realize he was standing there until they almost walked into him. lol
I found out that I have Meniere’s few years ago, I’ve wondered if a dog could sense when I would have an episode.
Belgian Malinois are beautiful, amazingly smart dogs.
They are, but how the hell do you get them to listen?
We adopted one two years ago, after we had fostered one for DogsOnDeployment. He's a freaking handful.
I had only had Keeshonden before (beautiful and really smart, but fairly easy to train when they want to cooperate), and was ill prepared for trying to keep a Maligator under control. He has calmed somewhat, but he does what he wants and thinks he owns me. He loves my mom and my husband, and most of the rest of the family, but he constantly sits his 80 lb ass on top of me and won't move.
We tried a trainer, and they used "not a shock collar" and it killed me. For a while after, he'd jerk every time you touched him and he didn't see it coming. So never again (and it didn't work--he was too damned stubborn and would just try to wait out the trainer). Someone said a prong collar (I can't walk him because he yanks me down if he suddenly decides to bolt, and my husband can barely control him on a leash), but they look cruel and like they'd slice his throat open. But it'd be nice if he listened. And didn't try to go after anyone who came within 6 feet of me (he's gotten really protective, as well as possessive).
Well, I’m sure blacksmiths21 could be of more help with that than me, as even though I’ve done training with my dogs, and trained one to be a therapy dog, Ive never had a Malinois, the breed of dog is a big deal on how you train some of the more active, high driven ones. Mals require more attention to training than most dog breeds.
They are high driven dogs, and would assume they need lots of exercise, training and structure.
But, it sounds to me he thinks he’s above you in the “pack”. You always have to be the leader/dominate one, you can’t let the dog think he is. You have to do some training with him yourself for him to see you as a pack leader. Have to take control over the situations as they happen also, to correct any bad behavior. The whole family should train with him also, individually.
I have used prong collars and they do work on some dogs, I’ve never had any problem with it hurting our dog (male boxer who was stubborn), after training him with it, if he started acting up out in the front yard (not listening to us) we would put it on him (off leash) and he would instantly behave without doing anything but put it on him. People do act like you’re cruel when they have them on, but would they rather you not have control of your dog when you need to? That’s what they are not thinking about.
I wish I knew any liberals (kinda). My only view of their reactions to all this is reddit, and I'm very unsure of how accurate that site is (how many are feds, bots, or foreign actors?). I wish there were more stories on this site about personal experiences with these people. We need to have some idea how many there are, how lost they are, are they sad or angry and despirited or radicalized. Most importantly: are they any closer to joining our side and what will it take to get them there.
I REALLY hope a great deal of the people on reddit are not actually like that.....

We need a FAFO flair! So much is happening, Trump is kicking a$$ and taking names.

Ha! What kind of dog is your Zeus? Mine was a Great Dane, hence my handle. He was the best dog, was a rescue.

Also have a Zeus. He's a Husky🤗
That’s awesome! 😊
FWIW: Rug Doctor Urine Eliminator Plus is your fren. kek
Edit:
Two bottles
It’s usually when he stealths behind me and I turn around and almost fall over him.
