Trucker here. This just scratches the surface of the issues! No understanding of anything. Laws, safety, decency, etc. My trucking friends and I speak daily of this! Usually because we almost got hit by them. Plenty of bad English speaking folks too! Large companies slamming asses into seats so fast your head would spin! Trucking needs common sense reform.
Mad respect for you guys. I offered to drive a moving van from Texas to Vermont for a friend who bought a summer house there. I thought it was a van van but it was a full sized gigantic truck, just shorter. It rained half the trip and snowed the second half. Regular gas stations don’t work because there is no space to turn. The only benefit is cars tend to give you a bit of respect. I was pretty worn out at the end.
My friend trains truckers for his company. He said they never follow the safety protocols. Claims daily the company has a safety issue resulting in some accident.
Does that explain why rigs are driving in the sandwich lane? I've noticed many trucks hang out in the middle lane on interstates the last few years. They used to stay in the right lane.
Trucks stay in the middle lane when there is a lot of on ramps as they can stay at constant speed and safer for oncoming vehicles to merge. Center lane is safer for both them and cars

They already can’t get homeowners insurance, now they won’t be able to get Auto insurance either. This is a recipe for disaster, not to mention a danger to the citizens.

I live 40 minutes from border. This is a nightmare. Lady at DMV was trying to get a non English speaking women to understand she did not pass. Took a bit🙄.
Dmv lady said they memorize the tests but don't realize some tests are not posted for practice. She says they just keep coming back till they luck on that test. She sees same answers everytime on the fails. That was when it was paper. Now online so who knows. The drive part is a joke. Mexicans grading Mexicans they know are illegal and can't speak English but they pass them all. 4 way stops are insane as they have no clue who should go. Near misses and crashes all the time. They don't know what center turn lanes are. This will get yah. They make left turns from far right lane and right turns from far left. So many wrecks. The are in left lane but want to go straight so they jump the red light to cut in front. Right into opposite traffic. So many crashes. I believe another perk of removing illegals is our insurance will go way down. Dad was hit by illegal who took off. Oh well said police, claim it on your insurance!
Dad's car hit parked in front of his house. We watched it happen. Got liscense plate.Oh well said police, we don't know who was actually driving the car so we can't go find them. Claim on your insurance. They park in handicap eith no sticker. They park in loading unloading walking zones. They run red lights. We always wait 3 seconds and look both ways before moving on our green light. Been witness to many accidents. They jump out and start threatening you. I give all their threats to policeman but my niece was terrified when alone. Locked herself in car. They were banging on window and threatening her. They hit her car! She told police but he did not arrest them. It's terrifying. We now know the police are compromised. Their families are illegal and Los Angeles gave police jobs to NON CITIZENS!!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
My family is in trucking in the northeast where all the Dominicians are. They start their own company and change it every 1-2 years, never claim more than a quarter of the trucks they have on the road, and skirt paying taxes because there is some way they can not have to pay them if they say there are only here driving for a short time and then go back to their country.

I've spoken to many old time long haulers (now called OTR, Over The Road).
They say to stay the heck away from tractor trailers at all costs.
The drivers often speak no English, have never driven a car and only have a month or 2 experience driving 80k lbs of tractor trailer.
But, they are on the road.
