I have to fill out a timesheet every week and assign hours to the stuff I am working or I get put on a naughty list if it is late. I am fortunate and make above the Govt avg salary, so they should be able to let their management know what they accomplished every week as well. This should be a no brainer unless you are scamming the system.
I wonder if DOGE is also eyeballing the DMV

Me too. I’ve had to account for my time all my life. I started my career 3 decades ago as a govt contractor. Every time someone I knew got hired by the govt they would undergo a personality change practically overnight— from conscientious employee to lazy entitled lord of the cubicle. Many of them would “empire build” — that is get contractors to do their actual work and “supervise.” As a kid right out of college I was shocked by the caste system I saw. Thank goodness I never took a govt job. I didn’t know much at the time, but I knew I didn’t want to be one of “them.”
Another thing I noticed is that no one ever got hired into the govt “off the street” or just by applying for a job opening, at least the part of it I saw. Rather “job billets” were created for a specific person that someone in power wanted to get “on board.” They’d jump through the hoops to make it look like a genuine job opening and then surprise surprise the chosen person would get hired. I watched this happen numerous times. This was back in the 80s & 90s. Things might have changed.
I think some in corporate have to do this, but if they are late, they don't get paid and h ave to go thru HR to get it submitted and fixed.
Gov employees think they are unlikely to get fired even if tbey do slip-shod work. Those days are over.
If you aren't a parasite on your boss/company and are actually productive then this should be no big deal. Only the corrupt and lazy don't want to be looked at.
Long overdue the playing field is leveled across the board. If the gov was held to the same standards as the private sector we'd be on way to self sustaining.
Reminds me of canadian liberal loser, David Dingwall, who was booted out of office in the 90s after whining about how he was "entitled to his entitlements." These people would literally starve to death without big government. I say turn off the faucet and let nature take its course.

Something else is going on. This drama is for public consumption. There was no ‘first chance’ as Elon’s “order” was out of chain of command. He did not have authority(he is unconfirmed advisory role). Order should have gone to Departments who did not receive order. Thus the pushback from department chiefs who countermanded the request.
What is being sent to feds on official channels is not what is being portrayed on Twitter. No threat of firing was sent to anybody for nonresponse.
So point may be the chaos being created.
I saw some (former) fed worker whining and bitching in a video yesterday. He was calling it an illegal firing. And kept talking about how he served his country and referred to coming to the office from 7:30 to 4:00 Monday through Friday as his "Tour of Duty".
Tour of duty. Cry me a fucking river.

Your solution to replace CIA and FBI breaks down as soon as you look past the surface. Significant resources need to be allocated to do what the CIA and FBI do. Volunteers still need to eat. There isn't a way around not having public employees there.
And yeah, the tariffs are meant to stop trade. But someone still needs to collect them.

To say that all of those resources are wasted is an exaggeration. SOME resources are wasted. But those resources that have recovered victims of child and sex trafficking and reunited them to their families have not been wasted.
You're entitled to your opinion that everything currently being down by civil servants would be better handled by the Military. After reports in the late 80s that our Armed Forces were buying hammers at $80 apiece and toilets at $600 apiece? I respectfully disagree.
