This has passed in the house, but it should be no tax after 40 hours. Why should those of us working two Jobs be Cinderella? We get straight time on all our jobs...

There should no income tax.
Agreed
I feel the pain- I have to work a total of 74 hours a week... one is with my main job and the other is with my part-time job... I don't care, because this makes me elated because my sister works 1 job and puts 20-25 hours a week in OT... so good for her and GREAT for everyone who does the OT!!! Yeah I would love to get a second-job break... I am not giving up hope...maybe someone can remind President Trump that so many of us have to work 2-3 jobs extra to survive...
My wife works OT, and I could quit the PT and get OT, just want the law to be fair.
No income tax period. No filing paperwork annually to the money changers, no more ever.
I agree completely
How about no tax on gambling wins. We already paid on the money we're gambling with. How about no tax on our loved one's estate. They already paid taxes their whole life. How about tsa rots in hell as well.. unconstitutional search and seizure. I've been felt up more than a fur coat at a yard sale. (Off topic, I KNOW! i'm just in a really bad mood.)
If they are gonna tax winnings they should allow you to take losses. But no, the government wants a piece when you have net winnings and f off if you have net losses. Ridiculous when you think about it.
Not sure what the limits are on gambling wins, but back in the early 90s I worked at a dog track and it was 600 or more taxed, 1000 or more they withheld 20% right then and there. You could write off winnings if you had enough losing tickets. Paramutuel wagering everyone loses because the house cut is too high
No tax on tips?
Interesting though, OP. I hadn't thought of that side of the work equation. I feel for you and you might have a point. I'll give you some love. +1
So far, no tax on tips, Nox tax on social security, and now, no tax on overtime. Hopefully, no tax on income, or property at all.
Praying for that even though I no longer own property and plan on quitting work this year or reducing to 6 months a year
Any bets on when this will actually affect our paychecks?
Do I sense a discusion being started, one that will quickly change the dynamic and the direction. Didn't Dan just say, "Time to abolish the IRS".
OT is easy since it is one employer processing the paperwork/reporting the numbers. Right now it is too complicated when there is more than one employer (new regulations and tax laws would have to be introduced, payroll software changed, etc.) If you've ever done payroll you'd understand what a mess that would create. Removing tax on OT is a relatively easy adjustment for the payroll software companies and for the employers.
You get a win and all you do is cry.
Have an upvote.
People will be able to drop their second jobs soon and work more overtime with their main employer.
Quit ascribing an emotional attribute to me, I'm starting a discussion. I can quit my PT job and get OT on the FT. Note: My SS covers my cost of living, working is just a way to have a better life than scraping by.
