Quite a few names that end in "er" that are not recognisable in English (e.g. Potter, Porter carter etc) are names of Jewish people. Think Schumer, Kushner, Wexner, Mayer, Krasner etc.
And don't forget "Mann", "ein" suffixes as well as colors as prefixes of the last name.
