Why not just see what they spent the money on ? You just know that most of the purchases had nothing to do with their job. Would that not be theft and warrant firing or even prosecution ?

Agree and an itemized report on each card is a SOP, so the gov and the issuing banks have these details. We have not seen these referred to DOJ, yet. Agree, I want perp walks, but rest assured, all those detailed transactions are retained for quite some time. I think they're developing that list. In all of my Corp roles, I have had a corp card. I have had to justify via expense report, for every nickle, in doing so, each time I was also very aware that expenses that were not work related, were grounds for termination and worse. I am sure there is that boiler plate language @ the gov roles, just not enforced yet. I think that this will be be used. They're already referring us aid staff for criminal referrals to the DOJ. This isnt over and I think we will see this dealt with in the near future.

I-understand !! you have armed ice grab the 4 really bad ones that they did out of the 5 thousand that was in a hotel in San Diego . . Ok u got the 4 bad guys but you left 4996 other criminals . California has millions that they sent to riverside San Bernardino and other places . Dont see how this is true? Your travel card would have to be paid, GPC cards are for buying things for the Gov, and an AO has to approve it, all paper work has to be saved for audits,, So, if somebody is paying personal stuff, it would be easy to see and fire them for theft.
Govt credit cards are audited on an ongoing basis. The employee must provide receipts to be reimbursed for payments on certain items within a certain set amount. Not everything is reimbursable and said employee must pay out of their own pocket, overages above what is deemed necessary are not reimbursed. Ive done them at FAA, these are for work travel, hotels, rental cars and per diem. Receipts have to be attached for everything claimed.

It's going to cost more to fix all the problems this "solution" causes than just going in and doing an audit of their spending and firing and prosecuting anyone they find of misusing their credit.

Its a lot easier to reset everything and have the people who need it reach out and prove why..I'd imagine.
The fact that they issued a considerable number of cards in excess of the number of employees has also to be addressed.
This open fraud, the audit will take a bit of effort, but I imagine DOGE have begun to automate the analysis of the card statements.
