Winston Salem State students are among the wave of volunteers helping communities in western North Carolina, spending their spring break hard at work to help people rebuild.
“I can’t imagine what these people went through with having everything they had just lost in the blink of an eye without any control of theirs,” said Cayla Parrott, a sophomore.
They’re part of a ministry called Chi Alpha that can be found on multiple college campuses. They’re working alongside nonprofits like Building Compassion, which has been organizing those efforts."

Theyre not just college students they are Christians who happen go to college. Their Christianity is why they're doing it, not because of their academic aspirations. It should say young Christians rebuild houses.

Black Public College and international interdenominatiinal community organization non profit that describes its core values or pillars as community, creativity, diversity, excellence, integrity, servant-leadership, and evangelism, coming together to help victims. You love to see it. The college kids are gonna be alright.

This sounds positive. The couple of times that I did Spring Break: Going to the beach down South in the 90's, it was a let down anyway. Lot's of dudes busy trying to attract a much smaller number of women. And a good amount of people weren't actually there on their break from college, but instead were just taking a regular spring vacation at the beach. It wasn't really like what the MTV Spring Break specials showed us back then, hah.
