I paid 175k for my current house in 2015. They are taxing me because it "appraises" for 850k for 2024 taxes, with homestead exemption etc etc. it goes up by 50k or more every single year. My job has stayed the same and goes up by maybe 1k a year.
I do not make enough money to justify almost a million dollars of taxes.
I used to have vacation expenses etc etc. now I'm going into debt just to afford taxes and groceries.
It's absolutely criminal and insane. But nah, tx is gonna care more about banning all anime cartoons and online purchasing of dildos than things that actually affect citizens like OTC ivermectin.

TX is good because you do not have income tax. Property tax is very high to cover for that but you either get both or one high one.
