There were no other acceptable candidates to primary lady Lindsay, the two other primary challengers were carpet baggers and worse than Lindsay. Until there is a better option than Lindsay Trump will back him.

Trump most likely has Lindsay under submission anyway. Lynsay will do as he's told.
Maybe its a backroom deal. Lady Lindsey will begin voting FOR President Trump's agenda without any blockage and President Trump will support Lady Lindsey. Deals need to be made for progress to happen and I see Lindsey as a log in the road, unless he gets what he wants. President Trump probably saw it was more advantageous to give Lindsey something instead of fighting him, constantly.

Don't know for sure, but it could be a double bluff to expose his crimes and make him liable for misconduct in a public office (i.e. treason, a hangable offence).
The other possibility is that this is entirely fake; with the whole thing being deepfaked with AI. That's why we have to know what Trump wants from us through FAITH and not through the words He say, because without faith we cannot know if it was really Him, or was AI.
