I’ve not been able to find anything on him renouncing his U.S Citizenship. Just that he acquired Peruvian Citizenship due to a treaty requiring such so he could continue his work there with the Church. And Peru makes explicit allowances for dual citizenship.
And he only spent about 2 Decades in Peru. Most of his life was spent in the U.S.
