Are the satellites able to beam down microwave energy, then it's transformed into electricity to keep the power grids powered up?
As someone who has played with RF (Ham radio propagation experiments), this is impossible at least for the next few decades. Even with a highly polarized dish / yagi / phased array antenna, the energy weakens proportional to the square of the distance.
Even if your satellite had infinite power, you'd end up frying stuff in a several mile radius. The only way this would be remotely feasible would be a laser and perovskite solar panel. Even then, it'd only be 25% efficient with today's technology.
I guess Steve Kwast on Shawn Ryan was giving misinformation.

Not saying he did, but also wouldn’t say he didn’t.

Are you talking about FRICKING LASER BEAMS? Military grade lasers from space could maintain coherence well enough to ignite things on the ground. Microwaves, not so much.
Look into Nikola Tesla's "Wardenclyffe Tower". I believe free wireless electricity across the ground plane is where all this is heading. Think of all the infrastructure and BS we can get rid of once this is implemented. No power plants, utility lines, constant tree trimming, coal mining, nuclear waste disposal, solar farms, eyesore windmills. HYYUUUGGGEE. And it actually gets better from there even.
Would the birds and bees be safe? Would the tech be too dangerous in an idiot's hands? (Not that we have any idiots on the planet.) I'm obviously not an expert in this field.
I’ve often wondered why the world has never had a billionaire that was interested (openly, anyway) in replicating Tesla’s designs. If I had billions that would be my goal.
Not at all. Not even close...to being "not even close."
What is it?
"Are the satellites...etc.?" Not at all. Zero capability. Laughable to even suggest it.
As for a "black eye"? God only knows (if it is even real). Just another mystification.
