House Republicans include a 10-year ban on US states regulating AI in 'big, beautiful' bill
House Republicans surprised tech industry watchers and outraged many state governments when they added a clause to Republicans’ signature “big, beautiful” tax bill that bans states and localities from regulating artificial intelligence for a decade.
Regulation of anything = create hurdles for common people to develop the tech and give monopoly to Cabal blessed companies.
AI is too important to lose to Cabal.
If its still confusing, read it again but replace AI with Guns.
AI is just like Guns. They are both powerful tools that can help people and Cabal wants to weaponise them against us.
I generally agree with that but this is not federalism or reserving powers to the states.
This is refusing to allow regulation to stand or fail on its own merit.
The bill reads AI used in commerce. The commerce clause gives the feds the opening to regulate it. I think this is to stop the states from road blocking AI. 10 years from now the AI and blockchain will have a life of its own and no gov will control it.
What's the beast system? It's all commerce. The ability to buy and sell.
Even if you "trust" Republicans, Democrats will come in and use this to harass patriots.
The beast system will never be stopped or slowed by regulation, because it is in and of itself regulation.
Early regulation kills innovation
Look what Biden regulating the crypto industry did. It suffocated any growth or innovation for 4 years. If bitcoin was regulated day one it wouldn’t exist. Also these regulations benefit the top companies and prevent owner operated exploration. If AI can transform commerce. I can imagine blue states regulating into oblivion. Technically the commerce clause covers this aspect.
After watching the past 100 days, my feeling is that Congress and political elite do not want President Finance to restructure the economy quickly. I swear these people want us to suffer. I under stand Lincoln’s disdain of the press and Congress so much now. It all makes sense.
We dont even have a system in place to decide things on their own merit. We will get there, but until then some things are too precious to be lost.
I honestly have to ask this time if we're being played. If we hold the same standards as we did for "build back better" = 666 wouldn't that also apply to "big beautiful bill" ? I'm a Trump supporter but I don't like this at all. This is worse than the Patriot Act. I am hoping and praying this was a rogue Repub act not Trump's doing but with the Palantir actions I'm not so sure anymore.
This might conflict with Freedom of Expression. A private company dictating the Fate of America.
It's Federally Regulated and i think i can understand the reasoning for that to go into the bill,Blue Rogue states with rogue Judges would inherently Fuck it up somehow some way and i wouldn't worry with the palantir thing it's for Weapons and sniffing out Illegals and not you or me .

Rogue judges are going to act regardless of this provision and the internet has survived without a federal restriction of state regulation on it.
You realize people said the exact same thing about the Patriot act right? Now we're illegally surveilled by the federal govt and no one bats an eye.
If the AP and Cornyn are trashing the provision then they see it as harming the DS. I saw a post earlier with a partial screenshot of the actual bill, not the AP’s interpretation.
Reading the text, the provision appears to be limited to Department of Commerce systems and the prohibition is to ensure states don’t pass laws to prevent the bew system from monitoring interstate commerce.
I WISH it said that. It's blanket.
Subsection (c) states that no state or political subdivision may enforce any law or regulation regulating artificial intelligence models, artificial intelligence systems, or automated decision systems during the 10-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act.
As you say it is a subsection to section 43201 which is directed at creating an AI system for the Department of Commerce. I can’t imagine a single court that would interpret it as extending beyond an AI system for Commerce.
Fuck John Cornhole and all of my fellow Texans who voted for his crooked ass.
