People in the territory covered by the treaty were given the right to choose either U.S. or Mexican citizenship, so there was no coercion to change one's citizenship if living in the affected territory. IN reality less than 10% chose Mexican citizenship.

Santa Ana was compelled to sign two treaties recognizing the independence and borders of the Republic of Texas, but when he got back to Mexico City he told his government that the treaties are invalid because he signed them under duress.

I would bulldoze it all down. Then reflood the entire San Joaquin valley with salt water. You know, return it to its natural state…
