"Drug growing operations"? It's just Marijuana. We wouldn't call a large field of tobacco plants a "drug growing operation" even though tobacco is also a plant that gets grown that is also considered a drug.
The feds should have more important shit to worry about than pot. This is pathetic.
Preliminary numbers show 70-75 illegal immigrants were detained in the operation, according to law enforcement sources.
Have an ICE day.....
It's legal to grow and use Marijuana in California. You just don't do it on Federal Land.
I know people who grow them.
The number of plants an individual can grow without a commercial license is limited. A "giant" operation would definitely require a commercial license. Where you can get a commercial license to grow and/or sell is regulated by the county and varies widely. I doubt the county could issue a permit for federal land.
Course not on federal land, and there are many in Humboldt County growing on their own land.
It sounds like Humboldt County is generous with the commercial permits (or the cops don't care to enforce regulations). San Diego County is not. When cannabis was first legalized, people interested in becoming growers were frustrated at the extreme restrictions on permits in San Diego. In an ironic twist of fate, the Franchise Tax Board was counting on collecting big $ in state revenue from legalized cannabis. FTB was very frustrated with the counties that were restricting their new cash cow!
The cops don't care. It's very rogue in Humboldt.
It's about the illegals not the pot , we don't care about pot, we care about criminals...
They can't tax illegal grows!
The Cartels have been operating in Northern California and Yosemite for decades now. Ask any SOF member who worked as an embed with DEA and they'll tell you how we were running counter Narco ops throughout the 80's and 90's on U.S. land, and how all that stopped after 9/11.
A stupid state that irrationally, immorally, and unlawfully jails people for growing a plant that has been used medicinally for 10,000 years.
This state is very lax about drugs.
That's what they named the airport, LAX
Howls. You are right.
Kek.
No that’s because it’s short for LAtinX.
One day they will rename LAX for some tran pioneer or something. I'm sure when that happens, everyone that doesn't believe in celebrating the alphabet mafia will call it by it's dead name with one exception. They will call it Ex LAX.
KEK.
Pot is legal in CA. An individual can grow a limited number of plants for personal use without a permit and the counties are happy to issue commercial permits to anyone who wants to grow more plants than the limit allows. I doubt the counties can issue permits for federal lands, though.
Aren't we about due for California to fall into the ocean?
Yes. I heard that long time ago.
Wasn’t legalization supposed to eliminate illegal grows?!?
I follow the CA income tax agency, the Franchise Tax Board, FTB, like a hawk. Before the legalization, they gave a big presentation on the huge amount of revenue cannabis would be generating for the state. In subsequent meetings, FTB said the real numbers were a small fraction of what was anticipated. There are many reasons, the biggest being that many counties were restrictive about allowing commercial cannabis operations. Another is the extreme bureaucracy at the state, county and city levels, and the incredibly high tax required to be paid at each level. Yet another fact that banks still won't open bank accounts for legal cannabis growers, so moving money is problematic and it's easier to stay under the table. Plus, people can legally grow a few plants for personal use, so aficionados are growing their own and making their own creams, ointments, etc in their own kitchens.
