Plus, long sleeves and pants-legs prevent bug-bites. The best, are actually the kaftans that native Africans and Arabs wear - extremely loose and fully covering, but no sticky crotch.
One can always pick the noobie toourists - they wear shorts and t-shirts, because hot, and end up sunburnt, bitten and scratched.
Are they ever, I have one i use as a robe after I shower so lightweight and comofortable. I don't sleep in it,too pretty but nice after a long day of work.
