As long as the shirt is white, and the materials are cotton or linen, then one an totally survive the tropics. Long sleeves are preferable. Long pants are good as long as they are loose. Plus, long sleeves and pants-legs prevent bug-bites. The best, are actually the kaftans that native Africans and Arabs wear - extremely loose and fully covering, but no sticky crotch.
One can always pick the noobie toourists - they wear shorts and t-shirts, because hot, and end up sunburnt, bitten and scratched.
Are they ever, I have one i use as a robe after I shower so lightweight and comofortable. I don't sleep in it,too pretty but nice after a long day of work.
But it is a Dry Heat!
