Well, it finally happened.
It's been such a long time. I almost forgot. I almost forgot what it is like. I mean, getting so caught up in bustin' narratives, real of imaginary, getting my knickers all out of joint cos some doofus posts a ThePeople'sVoice video (again) on GAW and it garners LOTS of upvotes. Sigh. Life ain't easy.
However, "hope deferred makes heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a Tree of Life". (Prov. 13:12)
And so, it finally happened.
A really interesting, spirited and actually kinda juicy discussion took place on GAW. Yeah, no. Really. I swear. And I got to be involved!!!
<imo, its been a bit of a desert in recent times, but that's my wholly subjective opinion>
The topic? Well, this keen little thread posted yesterday that garnered a certain amount of attention, and provided the foundation for <The Discussion>.
https://greatawakening.win/p/19BZWqHGGT/candace-owens-says-we-now-know-t/
The Topic
The topic is/was Candace Owens, Ian Carroll (and others): "Based sources of great info? Agents with an opaque agenda? Controlled opposition or the real deal? Etc."
And yeah, of course, I had to go and stick my nose in it from the get-go (as I am Not-A-Fan of C. Owens and am highly skeptical of her motives and - well, to be honest - I am <admittedly> biased against her operation).
And, of course, there were some real fanboys and fangirls of these (and others) who most vehemently defended their 'idols' (my words)!
But, for the most part, except for a slip up here or there on the part of one or two frogs (who seemed really passionate about winning an argument and getting all their massive GAW brownie points quota up above brimming by sliding into rhetorical shove and punch), the discussion was very good willed, and cordial. Heck, I think I may have even made a few friends in <jks> the enemy camp!
But the thing that made the whole engagement, for me, so delicious was how there was so much upvoting and downvoting all over the place. Like a battle royale. Both sides of my discussion with a certain beer-toting gunslinger (u/SirBudLight) got up votes and down votes. Both of us!
Wow. What fun! I kid you not. It was great (for me) to see the upvote and downvote buttons used, on both sides (not that I did it, hey, I rarely downvote, but the tadpoles that LUV to downvote their perceived misled brethren, shucks. Sometimes they are just real darn cute. (Toddlers, huh? Amairite?)
Jocularity aside, I just enjoyed seeing two very different sides of a topic being debated/discussed/argued (to some extent), with both sides getting some up and down action. Instead of what so frequently happens, where one side just piles on and drives the other voice into oblivion.
Fast Food
Takeaways? Well, for me, the opportunity to reconsider my bias (acknowledged) re: Owens and a few other characters. Hey, I'm OK with having a bias. I just want to be aware of it when I do. Usually, I try to have good reason for a bias if I have one. (I'm extremely biased to the max on that guy, Donald J. Trump, for example. But I think I have pretty good reasons for that!)
I'll reflect on the discussion next time I encounter these <ahem> (in my words, I think I just coined this:) "inflooencers", and ask whether I'm missing something that others are seeing. Or, perhaps, even come away with a stronger conviction that my biases are well-placed. Who knows?
Yes, it finally happened. I have rarely enjoyed such a discussion on GAW for a looooong time.
And I think the experience points out an important lesson, encapsulated in the following three points. A lesson I hope more and more frogs will consider and take to heart:
-
It's OK to disagree, but take the disagreement as an opportunity to reflect on and develop your mentality and thinking. Learn. Take engagement as an opportunity to Learn.
-
It's almost always pointless to engage in a discussion if your agenda is to somehow 'win an argument' or get brownie points because you displayed superior ... well... superior crap.
-
Frogs of a feather who stick together find much better weather and bouncyer heather.
(*Heather being a plant, a heath-like low bush typy growth that is well known for covering the Scottish Highlands)
Yes, such discussions are, imo, the real value of GAW. If WWG1WGA still has any validity today, it should be that we discuss things here, flesh it out, disagree, debate, but always remember that generally speaking, we all have the same goal in mind. We want the best for our country, our people, and the world.
Addendum: It's not that I haven't had such discussions on GAW before, but "It finally happened" is a great opening line, isn't it? Got you to read this far, didn't it?
Kek. Long Live the Meme. <salutes>
Iron sharpens iron fren, and a brother is born for adversity- whether bringing it or shouldering it. WWG1WGA.
It is good that we aren't all in lock-step. It is HEALTHY to have divergent viewpoints here, as none of us are in possession of the whole truth.
Exactly!
Aint that the (ironically) truth?
If the Creator exists, it would be wise to consider why he gave us two eyes. Only because we have two eyes, two slightly divergent yet coordinated angles of perspective, that we have depth perception.
Likewise, two divergent viewpoints can, if they work together in good faith, very often yield deeper and more broader perceptions. Because one will usually see something the other has not, and visa versa.
Meme Hard!
I gave a downdoot strictly as a badge of honor. 10 autism points if you can tell which comment it was on.
Definitely take closer look at Ian Carroll's work before You cast too quick of a judgment on him, presumably because he's hosting Candace's show.
He has done some amazing deep dives on a number of topics and a reputable harm to some of the biggest names, industries like big pharma, and brands over the years that most people were afraid to touch.
He does this very well and objectively with absolutely top rate research and documentation.
I'm not a Candice Owen fan but I am a fan of her falling out with Ben Shapiro. But I would take some time and check Ian out before you disparage him because of the relatively new association with her.
My beef with him is that so many others researched those topics years ago and they lose their Twitter accounts and all of that research (and income.) he comes along, presents those threads, and rakes in the money. I know, life is not fair.
He is not censored? Not silenced? Usually that means that one is controlled.
Ian and Candace are not for us.
But they are very good to start red pilling Normals and the moderate left. They would not watch the people we like.
Ian came from the stonk community on Reddit, which has a lot of commies. I first saw him years ago on superstonk.
IMAO they do have a place.
Says who? I've learned a lot from Ian's shows and digs. He is an incredible researcher and if he was posting it here you would be reading and upvoting it.
This entire site came from Reddit dude. That's an over-generalization fallacy AND a genetic fallacy and completely pointless. I'm on reddit, I'm not a commie. Lots of people on Reddit are not commies... Especially in the stonks community... Which is capitalistic.
Reddit has a bot problem and a moderation / censorship problem more than it has a commie problem... Just like Twitter did which has been fairly well addressed so far.
You don't speak for "us" and you don't get to gatekeep what is for "us"
Ian isn't for you and that's fine. (And I wasn't talking about Candice so you mentioning her like I was is a misrepresentation)
u/#kek
Ian just copied most of the DD on superstonk.
Witch is fine if you haven't been their. He may have done some of the research,it's been 84 years......
Watch what you like Ian.
Bruh I was there before superstonk was created and I'm not talking about simply his GME stuff.
Apparently you aren't however if that's your only point of reference. That's a shame cause it's damn good stuff that has nothing to do with stocks
All copied.
Did he give the original DD writers credit?
Do you want a link to the superstonk library?
Anons don't want or need credit.
People that care about spreading info WANT their info spread. It's crowd sourcing information .
I had my digs and content used by others countless times. IDGAF.
Ian has done plenty of his own digs and has spread knowledge and awareness without sponsorships and acting like a PAYtriot.
He's boosted the content of individuals and promoted quality businesses and individuals for no reason other than he believes they are good.
You seem to have some bitterness about this guy. Why is that?
I don't give two shits about him. But the suppersronk DD writers are not anons so they should be given credit.
How is Candace not for us?
Iām thinking of a good place for commies š
Appreciate the perspective and your writing style as well as the apropos verse from the Bible. GODSPEED
I've learned that disagreements can be very good at exposing truth, as long as they are civil and people have a willingness to learn from them.
As far as the Candace post goes, I didn't read any of it. Saw it, but these days I don't have a lot of time to spend here so I have to pick and choose.
A thoroughly understandable and perhaps laudable stance.
This is one of the few places I feel where I can openly disagree or have someone critique my posts.
Almost any other place, including in the "real-world", has "consequences". I remember talking with co-workers and they would totally blast the President (Bush at the time) without regards to the fact that he was still our President. I got so frustrated that they would not see the any problems with it. And yet, when someone (namely me) would criticize Clinton for the Lewinsky fiasco, they'd get all defensive.
I hope we (greatawakening.win) are not as bad as BlueSky, because we do need dissension and open communication.
It is almost as if we cannot agree to disagree anymore.
Too braindead to read right now, but had a glance:
Made me laugh out loud -n- snort beer out 'm nose!
kekeke
<yeah!>
Alright. Which crazy mod stickied this?
I told you up front that this was NOT a consequential post. Are you trying to make me look bad? And who knows how many of our erstwhile brethren suffered injury trying to operate heavy machinery while browsing this on their phone? I cannot be responsible for that.
<pauses>
On the other hand, I have actually enjoyed the responses.
Oh, ok. Go on. Stick your stick.
<shakes head> Crazy mods.
