It's a possibility.. but that is also a lot of power, and power corrupts. I don't really want to go from "Bad guys controlling the world via blackmail" to "Good guys controlling the world via blackmail". The later is certainly better, but I'd much rather have disclosure and justice. I could definitely see this as a stepping stone to that though, it's got to be insanely complicated dismantling something like this without a lot of fallout.
I agree and disagree. Maybe it should be Power can corrupt, because I've seen it for myself, but you're right that moral people of high character can wield it without being corrupted.
I did read, I forget where, maybe the Federalist papers, our founding fathers stated (not me). If angels ruled the world we wouldn't need laws, but they don't. Not a quote, as I am not sure if the wording is exact. Also Lord Acton wrote ( I know, British) I do agree with him also, absolute power corrupts absolutely. I kind of agree with you also, but I do find that many of the politicians in DC probably didn't go in politics to be corrupt, it just ended up being the way they saw riches beyond their wildest imagination. So maybe that is really something, to me-IMHO

No. It doesn't. But the powerful would sure like you to think it does so that decent people will stay away from it.
The truth is that the corrupt are drawn to power and they sure as hell don't want decent people to have it.
That's why Trump is such an anomaly. He's a decent man who is not drawn to power for its own sake, as the corrupt are.
Never buy the lie that "power corrupts." It's one of the very best ways to make damn sure that ONLY the corrupt will ever have power.
