I think it is a bad idea to piss off the Irish.

If the British were to begin moving into Ireland, take over land with no compensation, push the Irish out of jobs, would the Irish get tired of it and resist? Seems to me their clergy might have a wee bit of influence on why the Irish are not beating the piss out of the invaders. This is probably a dual or tri-prong attack on the citizens of Ireland.
