Trump's objective is to refuse to release the files, then force the Democrats to demand the release of the files, and then force the Republicans to resist the release of the files, and then release the files because the Democrats demanded it, and it will name all the Democrats (and a lot of Republicans) as Epstein's clients, and then they'll all be arrested, and obviously he couldn't just release the files, because that wouldn't have the same effect.

So, Trump is going to fight tooth and nail against release suddenly after saying for years he wanted it all released and he'd be the one to release it and arrest the pedos. Now he says get over it and move on.
Then democrats push so hard the files come out, and they get to claim a win.

I don't think it's that at all. I think Trump and everyone on his team went too far. They saw an opportunity and they capitalized on it without giving a shit what was or wasn't in the files. The stuff that's left in the files is probably boring procedural stuff which for all of us will be even worse that there being nothing left in the files at all.
Trump can't come out now and say, Nope, nothing left in there. No one would believe him. And he can't say, I pushed this case insanely hard because it gave me a ton of extra votes from people who were on the fence or whatever. Now, all he can do is hope people forget about it and move on so he doesn't disappoint all of his voters or worse turn us against him by admitting he straight up lied for years about having all the names and needing to be back in the white house to be able to release them.
I think the most boring, obvious, answer is probably the correct one. If there was a big list that fucked over all the idiot libs, it would've been released before the 2020 election or day one in 2024. If Trump was on the list, Biden would've leaked it at some point.
So, there's no real list or it never emerged and Trump knows there isn't a chance in hell that anyone who ever owned a MAGA hat will take that as an answer after almost a decade of being told the liberals are pedophiles and the evidence was sitting on the FBI directors desk.
Trump didn't say stop talking about Epstein until AFTER blondi came out and said that there was no list and the case was over and everyone lost their shit. On June 18 Trump said he was excited about releasing the full Epstein list ASAP. That's not even 30 days ago.
Honestly I find the idea that Trump was simply mistaken even more far fetched than him being an Epstein client.
Trump doesn't make mistakes, or act randomly. It's essential to recognise that he's playing a level of 5D chess that the rest of us can barely follow, let alone understand. Otherwise we'd be taken for fools.
Integral to Trump's 2024 campaign was a promise to release the files. Pat Bondi confirmed she possessed them earlier this year. If there was no list, why is Ghislane Maxwell in prison?

I don’t know. Maybe there’s some larger issue that none of us are aware of that is in the files. Maybe we have misunderstood the entire Epstein issue. But “because he wants the democrats to want him to release it” isn’t the answer.
