Very nice win.
Yes! So long overdue!
Disgusting. They recently brought in a βlawβ that allows mandatory organ donation, you must opt out, but I wonder if this will be ignored.
At this point I fail to understand why people donβt see the medical βprofessionβ as degenerate money grabbing criminals.
Exactly fren!
I fail to understand why they don't call the "medical profession" the "medicine profession".
Some people do see that.
Reform is nice but prosecution is better.

Good.
Organ donation after death is still the exception, not the rule. Thousands of organs are lost before they can be donated. Once circulation stops in most cases the organ becomes useless. How do you solve that problem? Simple, you change the definition of death.
Now we are talking organs here, not tissue. Cornea transplants are not organ transplant, those are tissue transplants.

OK thanks; one used to be able to specify eye donation, now it seems -- they want it all, while one is still alive!
Until it's fixed, don't check the box for Organ Donation.
As someone already mentioned, there are some organs that are only viable with circulation, namely the heart. If there is no brain activity but the heart is still pumping (artificially), most organs are viable.
That means there are signs of life, but no brain activity.
I have a family member that had an UNEXPECTED heart transplant 9 mos ago. There HAD to be signs of life (heart pumping) in order for it to be viable.
It was a weird feeling: grateful to get the heart but sad that another family was grieving the loss of a loved one. We prayed a lot for both.
I think they are harvesting a lot more than this...
According to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN), in 2023, there were approximately 46,632 organ transplants performed in the United States. This includes: Kidney transplants: 27,332, Liver transplants: 10,659, Heart transplants: 4,545, Lung transplants: 3,340, and Pancreas transplants: 102.

GOD BLESS RFK (no longer Jr. officially BTW after decease of his father).
I see what you did there AL...
They are keeping hearts pumping until organ harvest time. Ask an EKG tech. in any major hospital...
I'd sure like to know why there is such a massive worldwide need for human blood and organs. The push for it is everywhere, to the point of stories about travelers in foreign countries being murdered for their kidneys and probably much worse.
Who is it that wants all that blood and all those human organs, and why?
(I suspect that somebody is using it to make some kind of longevity tonic, but that's just a guess.)
There is a YUGE Black Market for organs worldwide.
The term "black market for organs" refers to the illegal trade of human organs for transplantation. Key aspects of the black market for organs Motivation: This illicit trade is fueled by a severe imbalance between the high demand for organs and the limited supply from legal, voluntary donations. Targeting the vulnerable: Organ trafficking often preys on vulnerable individuals in impoverished communities or developing countries who are coerced or exploited into selling their organs, often without fully understanding the risks or receiving fair compensation. Transplant tourism: Individuals in need of transplants may travel to countries with less stringent regulations to obtain organs more easily, contributing to what's known as "transplant tourism". Global phenomenon: Organ trafficking is a transnational criminal enterprise operating globally, despite being illegal in most countries. Profitable but dangerous: The black market for organs is highly profitable, with conservative annual estimates of illegal profits ranging between US$840 million and US$1.7 billion. However, those selling organs may only receive a small fraction of the final price, and face significant health risks. Ethical and legal concerns Exploitation: The core issue of the black market for organs is the exploitation of vulnerable populations and the violation of their autonomy and human rights. Health Risks: Sellers of organs on the black market often face serious health complications due to inadequate medical care and post-operative support. Medical Integrity: The involvement of medical professionals and facilities in illicit organ procurement raises concerns about the integrity of medical practices. Combating organ trafficking Efforts to combat the black market for organs focus on strengthening international cooperation, enacting stricter laws and regulations, raising awareness about the risks, and addressing the root causes of vulnerability that drive people into this desperate trade. Important Note: The sale or purchase of human organs is illegal in many countries, including the United States, as outlined in the National Organ Transplant Act.
