As eldest son He most likely supported His earthly family as a carpenter. (Which would be His responsibility). Even on the cross He told John to take care of His mother. John 19:26-27
When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
These new reveals are to discredit His mission to save mankind from their sin & to prepare His 'Bride' for the 'Eternal Enterprise'.
Not to be weird or anything... but you know it would add insult to injury to be a Carpenter and to be nailed to a poorly built cross. Jesus probably recognized poor craftsmanship when he saw it. Nails going in at odd angles, corners not rounded properly, splinters and splits in the wood...
Quora explanation.
It’s not that he disappeared for 18 years. It’s just that the writers of biographies of him didn’t think his childhood was particularly interesting or relevant.
Correct. Thomas was more than likely not the author. The book is valuable for non canonized history however. It also does not have the same flow as canonized Scripture. So not inspired. Same goes for the Maccabees. It doesn’t read in the same way as the real 66 Books. One Author wrote through 40 pairs of different hands.
It’s not wise to add anything to the Word of God. Unless you like millstones around the neck….
We can ask Jesus when we get there. We will have forever to learn the brief history of the whole world, if anyone there is even concerned about things past! We will be enamored with our new home!
What's ridiculous about the explanations? I found the Russian traveler's story compelling when I looked into it, and the most compelling thing about it is that its not just him, but a whole slew of documents and cultural traditions.
I'm not especially invested in it, but I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand either.
Sorry I don't like gaps. I read between the lines; always have.
Why wouldn't they expose, or explain, his entire life?
The MOST famous person to walk the earth, and 17 years are not important? WTF
Or should I say......It’s just that the writers of biographies of him didn’t think his childhood was particularly INTERESTING or RELEVANT? SMH
The texts exist. They're simply not included in the Bible. If you want to know, you'll have to read beyond the standard fare and look into apocryphal (i.e., not included in the Bible) texts. As Q says--- that choice, to know, will be yours.
Many of the found religious books were left out by the Catholic Church back in the 18th and 19th centuries due to their controversial versions that do not align with Jesus’ teaching.
That being said, it’s still very important to gain a different perspective and obtain knowledge about our religion from other sources, such as the rejected books and gospels.
Radically different from the Cannon Books of the Bible
The finding of the gospels of Thomas, Mary and Phillip in 1945 is, to this day, considered one of the most important discoveries when it comes to Christianity.
These texts provide a drastically different look on Jesus’ teaching and his life, which many frown upon.
Instead of being depicted as a suffering human, these books mainly describe Jesus as a divine creature whose teaching is about immortality.
Types of Books and Texts in the Bible
Two basic types of Christian books (both those included and excluded from the Bible) are the apocryphal and pseudepigraphal texts.
The meaning of the word Apocrypha is “hidden.”
In other words, some information about them still remains unknown.
Many of these works have been incorporated into Bibles for specific religious groups, such as Catholics or Protestants.
Some believe these works were written between the time of the writing of the Old Testament and the New Testament.
On the other hand, Pseudepigrapha is a term that refers to a false claim of authorship.
In other words, a specific text might claim to have been written by Peter, the disciple, but that claim was thought to be false.
Many of the excluded books that are on the list are considered to be pseudepigraphal texts.
As we successfully covered the full list of lost, removed or generally excluded books and stories from the official Bible, here are some of the well-known ‘lost’ books of the Bible, as well as why they are not part of the official Bible.
I like to have ALL the information. Interestingly, all my life I've asked questions about the Bible and am usually met with Bible versus and meant to feel inadequate. I want to comprehend, NOT just regurgitate or have blind faith. That just shuts me down.
"Many of these works have been incorporated into Bibles for specific religious groups, such as Catholics or Protestants.

I am skeptical of any human who made those decisions.
Would knowing how many boo-boos Jesus got when nailing boards together while working with his father contribute in any way to explaining why believing in Him is the only way to gain salvation?
Have you read the gospels at all? He doesn't begin His ministry until His baptism. What relevance would any of that have towards leading people to salvation?
Sure, but why would the writers of the gospels spend all their time telling you about the carpentry billing ledgers when the importance of His life was fulfilling prophecy, completing the covenant, and offering salvation to all who believes on Him?
The cost alone to document all of that would have been insane. It took approximately 360 animal skins to compile the Codex Sinaiticus. For comparison, one sheepskin was approximately 30 denarii while an egg was 1 denarii.
It just doesn't make sense to me why it would even be necessary to document all of that. I'll be happy to ask Him about it when we're all on the New Earth but I don't think it's going to provide any Earth-shattering twists or complications to what we already know.
I don't know how it would be done exactly, but it would be very interesting to be able to compare the supposed Vatican documents about Jesus' youth with the many pages about it that are in The Urantia Book. The UB is a book of compiled channeled writings. I am not a disciple of the UB but I think it is significant that it was the first place that I ever read anything about why we are important, cherished even, by God the Father, who is acknowledged as such, by the Angelic realm and Jesus himself. Sad that being important to God had never occurred to me until I read that. UB also has a lengthy description of the war in heaven, as described in The Bible, which was very complex, and lasted a very long time. I don't have a UB anymore or I would post some of that.
TY Fren! Just the genre (more spiritual leaning) I was seeking. 👍
I thoroughly enjoyed the video, especially from 1:32 on. I'll have to watch a couple more times, and go down that bunny hole; never heard of Urantia. Definitely expands the thinking!
I was in the Mormon Church for 5 years. They were hysterically adamant that my husband's copy of the Urantia Book be burned! I do NOT trust any religious dogma or group that dares to tell me what I am forbidden to even read.
Fuck that shit.
When Jesus was 12 years old, (Luke 2:49) records Jesus saying(and is saying to us now) "WHY WERE YOU LOOKING FOR ME DID YOU NOT KNOW THAT I WOULD BE IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE"(about my Father's business)" This is what I believe is the answer to the (so-called) lost years of Jesus. He was preparing and being prepared by the Holy Spirit for Ministry. The subtle message of the seeking of the(so-called) missing years of Jesus, is that there is some spiritual truth (we're missing) that the scriptures we have don't contain all of the truth. Don't believe it, God has made sure that everything we need for this life and the one to come is contained in the scriptures we already (do) have, this is confirmed by (2 Peter 1:3) where it is written," His divine power has given us (EVERYTHING) we need (FOR A GODLY LIFE) through our knowledge of Him, who called us by His own glory and godliness. THROUGH THESE, He has given us very great and precious promises, so that THROUGH THEM you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world, caused by evil desires" This is confirmed by (John chapter 17) where Jesus said," FATHER DON'T TAKE THEM OUT OF THE WORLD, CAUSE THEM TO LIVE ABOVE THE EVIL IN THE WORLD" ( be able(ENABLE THEM) to live a godly life) by the word of God, which we already have, filled with His promises and provisions. Third witness: (Colossians 2:10) "Ye are complete in Christ"(COMPLETE) that means lacking nothing. That would include the so-called missing years of Jesus. Satan always tries to get us to look for something he says, we don't have, so that while we're looking for what we don't think we have, we're not looking and using what we dd have, because we think it's incomplete Let's say it together,We are complete in Christ, we lack nothing, all that we need or will ever need, pertaining to this life, and the one to come. is contained in the word of God we already have, confirmed by the Holy Spirit and guaranteed to us by the provisions and promises of God. (2 Corinthians 1:10) "All the promises of God are yes and amen in Christ Jesus". (2 Corinthians 1:10)
True. Had limited time, and no immediate access to KJV. However if you study those verses you will find the meaning is accurate, and the message remains the same
Read any historical account from the time period of Jesus and you'll see the same thing. Historians did not see it necessary to document their subjects childhood. They would typically begin the account with the first significant thing the historical figure did.
Even moreso, read the Old Testament and you'll see the same thing. The only time their childhoods are mentioned is because it is significanty relevant (Moses being adopted into Pharaoh's family, Isaac on Mount Moriah, Joseph and his brothers when he was sent into slavery, etc)

It must have been maddening.

GOSPEL OF THOMAS- ESOTERIC SPIRITUALITY https://www.bitchute.com/hashtag/gospelofthomas/
The gospel of Thomas is a forgery
The Gnostics waited till there were no eyewitnesses to the life, death & resurrection of Jesus to produce their forgeries.
Trust the editors!
DO NOT QUESTION THEIR MOTIVES
More like "be retarded and don't think critically about why this wasn't included"

Right, read it like the book of Enoch.

Am starting down that Bunny (as my grand daughter says) hole too.
I chose to know. 😉
Would knowing how many boo-boos Jesus got when nailing boards together while working with his father contribute in any way to explaining why believing in Him is the only way to gain salvation?
I guess if that's all you thought happened in 17 years from age 13-30. I don't.
Have you read the gospels at all? He doesn't begin His ministry until His baptism. What relevance would any of that have towards leading people to salvation?
Well, he's been our savior since birth.
Sure, but why would the writers of the gospels spend all their time telling you about the carpentry billing ledgers when the importance of His life was fulfilling prophecy, completing the covenant, and offering salvation to all who believes on Him?

Q said Expand you Thinking. These are MY questions. Unfortunately, your first reply was snarky, at best: boo boos?
I'm glad to read your last reply, even though I may not agree with your logic or it satisfies my quest.
I have a long history with the Bible, Church, Evangelicals and Masons. FYI.

Right, and it starts with the first significant moment in His work, which is His baptism in the Jordan River.
