I live in a farming community with many Mennonite families ,they have zero autism and literally no allergies. They build their own schools ,churches and houses and take care of their elderly
You should see my grandfather and great grandfather’s era.. all made of steel and lived till almost 100 or above. God made us perfect and man became jealous.
There are elements of the Amish lifestyle that are admirable and there are elements that are very oppressive and abusive. They limit education, their bishops often exercise a great deal of control over their personal lives, they're forced to shun their children if they leave the religion. We can be inspired by the good things they do, but they're not role models for freedom-loving, truth-seeking, education-valuing, adventurous, creative Americans.
They are a closely knit population, but all Amish communities are not exactly the same. Some are more strict than others. Sone are more lenient. Regardless, all children are given the chance to decide whether or not they want to commit to the Amish ways. This normally occurs in their late teen years to mid 20's. If they commit, they are then baptized. If they don't commit, they are on their own. Although their non-commitment outcome may sound unreasonably strict to us, it is a method of holding and maintaining their cohesiveness.
As far as their education, they know a hell of a lot more than in 8.5 years than most "English" students know in 12 years. Additionally, they have values.
Creative? Most of us couldn't do 25% of the things they do.
Oppressiveness and abusiveness? Of course, these traits escape no sect or population, regardless of religion or beliefs, however, I know of no studies whatsoever stating factual information that this occurs on any notable basis. Do they discipline their children? Absolutely.
I really think it’s time for President Trump to invite the Amish to the White House and hand them a key, Medal of Honor or some kind of acknowledgement. I know the Amish wouldn’t want anything but fair justice and law, and be left alone, and maybe putting a spotlight on them will put a target on their back. But there must be something POTUS can do just for them because of their contribution to society, helping NC, agriculture, and so on.
Excellent point. Turn aggression towards the peacemakers who bother nobody, cause no harm to nobody, are productive, work hard, and have no ill will towards anybody.
The Amish are the healthiest: no childhood vaccines, no GMOS, cattle and chickens, hog raised naturally free range, the young have zero access to the internet and phones. The only negative is the inbreeding which can result in medical issues.
Yes, please leave these hard working decent folks alone. They can decide for themselves just like the rest of us should as to their health, food, work, attire, worship, community rules. It's not the government's job to make them do otherwise.

Americans need to model Amish behavior. Not the other way around.

Draft stud horse loan for a season. Belgian for 6 months then a prime Percheron for another 6. Better babies for the future.
