Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

Just letting you know that my Dad died on July 19th from that motorcycle accident. It was far worse than reported. He had a heart incident that caused the accident. When he arrived at the hospital, they tried working with the heart, but Dad's pacemaker kept shocking the attending doctor. As a result, they decided to give medicine to ensure that the heart is operating correctly. However, the other organs started failing and the brain is bleeding. I had very little choice but to exercise the advance directive on him.
Deepest condolences JS17. I was thinking about you a few days ago, wondering how you were doing.
I am doing fine. I am just a bit busy with stuff so I wasn't able to provide an update until today.
😢😢💔🙏✝️
So sorry for your loss and the painfull decisions you had to make. Hard when things comes so sudden.
My prayers are with you and your family, may God mend your hearts. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
August 10th, 2018 — Q starts with a hard punch: “They never thought she would lose. Now they all lose.” Minutes later, a warning drops — trip compromised, three intel agencies, foreign and domestic, hitting them at once. Feels like a live breach. Then, almost instantly, a new trip is confirmed, comms are safe, and strange coded strings start appearing. It’s not random — it’s meant for someone specific. The last post seals it: “Fishing is fun. These people are stupid.” Turns out what looked like an attack was bait, and the people who took it gave themselves away.

Boy are you into it.
I am curious to know where this goes.
Just send us a modmail and let us know who the problem child is and we'll take it from there. We're doing our best to banhammer the handshake trolls. They've been out in full force ever since the whole "Epstein Files" brouhaha cropped up.

Tried searching and can make a post but wanted to ask here first about making dog food? One of our dogs just doesn’t like the chicken rice kibble from pawtree and keeps licking her paws. Thanks.
if your dog isn't diabetic, you might try unfiltered raw honey, like on a dog treat...you can research it easily, and i can attest that my older dogs were helped greatly by it, seemed to extend their lives with good quality of life as well...also, the honey helped a friend who was thinking it was the end for his beloved old dog, and ended up with a couple extra good years...raw unfiltered honey has many health benefits for dogs...good luck!
There was a recent thread about this, with some good info, and there's probably a lot more recipes online you can search for.
Same post, two different links:

Dogs can develop allergies/sensitivities to chicken that can make them itch and also chew their paws. Hope this helps!
BTW, love your avatar! 😉😁
You too CQ! Thanks for the link that’s the one I remembered seeing. u/#mikemirror

I started making our dogs food and it has made a world of difference for them. We have a 14 year old cocker spaniel, used to have ear and skin infections constantly. As I started to make healthier changes for my own diet, I thought maybe the dry kibble (a premium brand) was contributing to her issues. I made a batch of food consisting of chicken thighs, sweet potato, carrots, turmeric, spinach, coconut oil and a little salt. She loved it. Since switching to that, she has not had another ear or skin infection. Both dogs are healthy and happy eating real food. I sometimes switch up the chicken with ground beef. I give them snacks of apple or blueberries. Dry kibble is convenient for us but not the best for their well-being. I’m retired so I have the time to make it but if you have more money than time, something like The Farmer’s Dog may work for you.
Dogs are carnivores. Rice is not a normal part of a dog's diet and can lead to diabetes. So to make "dog food", simply kill an animal.
My carnivore pets very much enjoy cooked ground venison.

1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
I love 1 Corinthians 15. It's one of my favorites. Particularly verses 51-58.
Thanks for the reminder this morning.
