I do not see how AI can be blamed for telling him how to tie a knot when any kind of knot would have been sufficient to choke a person. Teens committing suicide is on the uptake. Alcohol, drugs and the MSM dooming the future are a major part of the problem.
It's sad that it happened but blaming AI is the same as blaming guns for suicides. The boy is responsible for his actions and perhaps the parents are too for not recognizing it or monitoring the chat got chats. I have 2 teenage boys and I often check the gpt chats.

I've been working with OpenAI on a project and I have a hard time getting it to be indifferent, let alone coax someone into suicide, not that I tried the suicide stuff.
Ai sickness is very real. I met a therapist the other day and she said they have a whole wing of Ai sickness patients and that it exploded six months ago. She said that medication usually breaks a fixation, but that their fixation will not break and the doctors have no idea how to treat them. Ive read many such stories where using Ai induces psychosis.
We need to open ALOT of mental hospitals so these poor souls can get the help they need! A lot of the problem starts with using drugs to escape reality. I lost my youngest grandson to suicide at age 32. God help us find a way to help those that are in this mental state of mind!!!

However, forcing GPT to go behind tbe users back to initiate a call to authorities is probably crossing the line. At the very least though the AI shpuld lock you out or repeat to seek help and do nothing else.
