I can’t complain: 10 minutes commute with my e-velo, good pay, technically challenging my old school geekiness and the colleagues made me painlessly renounce my secluded home office life (I still can work 60% from home but I kinda like meeting these people).🤓

On a positive note, There is this local asian grocery shop where 90% of their products used to be from China, and then the week after Trump's initial tariffs on China, we went to that shop and there were aisles of Japanese products - made in Japan - entire aisles, and we were so excited to say the least.
I joked to my wife that this was becuase of the Tariffs, but assumed it must have been some temporary "glitch" in Chinese supply.
But guess what? Since then, progressively they have been expanding more and more Japanese products and now we can pretty much buy whatever we want thats not Chinese.
I strongly think it was not a coincidence that all this happened after the Tariffs. China got royally wrecked since then. The playground is much more complex than we can imagine.

I mentioned in the Aug.19th General Chat thread of how I visited family in America I hadn't seen in over 13 years. My normie-ass sister was listing a myriad of all these foods she and her deadbeat husband cannot eat, even asking me how I can eat foods and not get sick, meanwhile getting offended when I said that the oatmilk they drink daily is loaded with seed oil and other chemical shitstorm trash. She was complaining about weight gain, but somehow it's someone else's fault just like everything else in life, and how she doesn't believe that seed oil is bad for you. Well, I used to be lactose intolerant as well, but I overcame that. But hey, what the heck do I know? I'm just a stupid conspiracy theorist. "You claim to be healthier but you had a hot fudge sundae!" Well yeah, it's one of those America-only things I could enjoy while visiting the country. I hadn't had one in 15 years and I may not have one again for another 15. But to compare a once-in-15 years treat to consuming oat milk on a daily basis? Really? I had to be careful not to mention much about Japan, the country I happen to live in, because they are normies. I was very careful not to mention much, yet on the last night I was accused with, "All you've done since you got here was say how much better Japan is than America" and stuff. Which I did not, but it just shows their mindset.
So I'm just mentioning all of this to say that the experience just makes me appreciate all of you on here. Recently, u/CaptainQuip told me that he finds my perspective from Japan unique, and I was able to tell u/Joys1Daughter some more details of the family blow-up I had to endure from my retarded family members. No, that discussion was via a PM. I'm not revealing a whole lot of what really went on. Already some troll named Ceeker PM'ed me an hour ago and told me what a horrible brother I am and what a loser I am. I'm not the one who has spent the past three decades mooching off of someone and sewing division in a family because I killed my desire to be a productive person (and my teeth) through meth. I could have very easily laid into that toothless cretin, but I did not. I just stood there and let him scream. These decades have gone by while the family members have gone out of their way to be nice to him, only to have the gestures of goodwill swatted away.
