Amen. Concealed carry is so much better on many levels.
Do you REALLY want the bad guys to know you have a gun, exactly what type of gun you have, and where it is? I don't. They can grab it and run off, or plug you with it before you can react. Keep those assholes guessing, I say.
I want them worrying and wondering who's armed and with what, and how many rounds they'll take inside their brain tissue before they even get a shot off.
Could not agree more, DJ. I don't live in an open carry state but even if I did, I'd greatly prefer the advantage of concealment and surprise.
I of course agree that it should be legal. But I think it should be used smartly. Some areas of the country, it's culturally not a big deal to open carry. Other areas where it's legal, as you said, it freaks the Karen's out.
But I know for some people, open carry is a "loud and proud" statement. Doesn't seem very tactical though.
I feel the same way you do. Open carrying a pistol is one thing, but I don't want to see someone coming down the store isle with an AR-15. Why? Because if you out gun me, that means my life is in your hands, and I don't like feeling that my life ain't my own.
At the same time I understand it's a false security to think that the laws are going to control the actions of homicidal maniacs.
The only Open Carry aspect of a law that I thought was important is the one covering accidental or unintentional exposure of a concealed weapon. You, I'm sure know of the incidences where prosecutors went after CCW people who bent over, or whose shirt rode up and exposed their gun. Florida passed a law that prevented these type prosecutions, so I really don't care about open carry.
Anyway, in Florida, it is now legal to Open Carry if one is hunting, camping, or fishing, or on the way to or from any of those activities. Technically one could open carry and just claim you were on the way to go fishing, hunting, or camping.
I still think open carry is dumb, but by all means it should be legal.
If everyone open carried it would be a very polite society.
(the reason I don't like it is because it freaks the sheeple out and that doesn't help, and also a shooter will target you first)
