Sign language is a fairly recently constructed language, and these fuckers love hidden meanings and to have love be their gesture is exactly the kind of thing they would do(blatantly obvious)
I mean to even consider using this given the ambiguity of the gesture when the whole two hands making a heart gesture exists.....
People keep forgetting that there isn't just 'narratives' but also counter narratives and negative narratives, and getting people to defend a gesture that most people have a gut reaction to and saying that you aren't seeing what you are seeing.....
People are locked in the whole black or white A vs B of it all and completely ignoring the rest of the alphabet, ignoring intuition when they shouldn't and going with feelings when they should go with intellect, and people KEEP doing it and falling for it........

Ok on this point alone I am going to actually weigh in- ASL I love you is a one hand gesture and pretty well known. In every picture of me and my heavy metal friends or it friends I slip an I love you in to their devil horns. I was literally good naturedly teased for it. To be clear Something absolutely does not sit right in my spirit with this whole thing so I am actually so in for the dig but on the sign language 🤟 that is a total red herring Squirrel IMHO
I usually don't go ........ unless there is more than one thing causing me reason to pause and usually it is the combo of intuition/gut-feeling combined with thought.
My gut feeling about her is that there is something of about her, which is what made me not simply brush of her gesture(I'm also a metal-head and the use of that gesture in that context is highly likely something they fermented in the metal community, they want its use to be normalized so that regardless of where the real assholes can use it as signal without worrying about it...)

I much prefer the british two-fingered up-yours as the origin of it is as a sign of defiance(during war with France captured long-bowmen had their draw-fingers cut of, so holding them up on the battlefield to taunt and show that they still had them and would put them to good use became a thing)

Why did she throw up a sign that only a tiny fraction would even recognize, is she connected to some type of deaf cause or group and did it for their benefit?
