I understand that national defense and emergency services are not shut down. How are normal people even inconvenienced by the shutdown? And why not leave it shutdown?
They also seem to do shutdowns after the SS checks have gone out. I wonder what would happen if the gov is shut down longer than a month? People stop getting ss checks?
SS checks (usually direct deposit) are staggered throughout the month, not just on the 1st. And no, they don't stop getting checks/deposits during a shutdown. I used to work for a bank and this sort of thing would make the call volume way too high.
Yes, but we have a new timer which is shown on top, above the expired countdown timer. It is showing how long the shutdown have been in effect for and so far it's a little over 9 hours at the time of this comment.
The big numbers were showing the countdown toward the shutdown and now the countdown has expired at midnight, Oct. 1st, which is what we are seeing right now. Apparently they just wanted to leave the big numbers there. Now we only have the timer on top for how long the shutdown is in effect.
The Democrats need the government more than we do. They will cave in a short period of time.
10 days is my guess.
On the clock.
Is that ten business days= 2 weeks. Nooooooooo!
I would guess 10 calendar days.
Good post. Name checks out.

Will Bill and Hill still testify on the 9th and 11th?
its a timer to how long before it shuts down. It is now sitting at 00000

oh, I see it now. Thank you.
NP!
Very funny—WHs don’t miss an opportunity to drive their point home!
I hope that law enforcement agencies are exempt from this, otherwise the democrats just shut down the ICE / NG response to their own riots
So they are protecting their antifa people or giving them time to flee
Cool. No democrats at work means peace.
Whitehouse.gov. It's literally in the title of the post.
https://www.whitehouse.gov/government-shutdown-clock/ the clock movement is at the very top in smaller font, for some reason the big numbers are not working.

The White House shut down clock gives us new time stamps.
