Atheist here. I have my own thoughts as to what Jesus is, but for the sake of argument let's say that Jesus was a flesh and blood human; the Son of God.
Do you really think that Jesus would want a statue of himself on the White House grounds? To what end? Was Jesus so weak that He needs your adulation?
How about a statue that encompasses some of his His teachings that most of us can agree are universal unless we are evil?
Love your Neighbor
Service and Humility
Compassion and Mercy
Forgiveness
Care for the Poor
Integrity
Put something up like that and DARE the Demoncrats to oppose it.

You misunderstand who Jesus is. I can't blame you because so many churches seem to push the lie. God is Love. Jesus is His son. Think that through, We are called to worship agape Love. Not a love that gives us something in return. But a Love that is unconditional and freely given. Sin is a replacement for seeking agape Love. Seeking agape Love leads to life. Sin leads to death. Sin is anything that is not agape Love
