Great. I can just see Gaza turning into a "battle of the clans" civil war for the next 10-years, sort of like Beirut, Lebanon was from 1975-1990.
Is there anyone in that vicinity who has an interest in seeing that happen? Anyone? Anyone with a name beginning with the letter "I" and ending in "L"?
That has been going on in Gaza for decades and ramped up after Gaza was turned over to them to govern in 2005. Hamas quickly took control and have maintained their grip ever since. It is too profitable for them to let go - all that Aide and UN money pouring in has been too tempting to ignore. I really think this fighting is less about ideology and more about who will control all that money.
The Lebanon civil war started because Jordan kicked out a bunch of radical Palestinians and they went to Lebanon, destroying that once beautiful pearl on the Mediterranean coast which at the time was a Christian country. Jordon unloaded part of their Palestinian problem. What did Lebanon get? Hezbollah and a war torn fractured country.
They might. It would certainly render Gaza unlikely to be a problem for the foreseeable future if they’re busy killing each other. It would also cause the Media to largely move on now that it appears it’s just another round of brown people killing each other over something stupid. Instead of the Israelis bombing them.
Though Clan and Tribe based societies aren’t exactly known for being excessively peaceful. In fact usually in the absence of immediate external threats. They often clash internally as grudges and feuds. Some of which could be centuries old once again take center stage.
So it could also be the feuding one would expect is occurring as part of normal politics now that the immediate threat has passed.

Exactly!
