Since POTUS promised us a nation worth celebrating on 7/4/26, we will hopefully have a nation more open to these films release than the first one. Together, they will make a trilogy for the ages.

Why did Mel Gibson put another instead of the original?
According to the article, Jim Caviezel, 57, was supposed to undergo digital de-aging to portray Jesus at age 33. Apparently, the filmmakers decided that digitally de-aging the old cast was “too expensive.”
No likenesses. Pretty simple really.
In order to look like the 'Jesus they wanted to portray', Jim Caviezel had to wear a prosthetic nose, colored contact lenses, enhanced fake beard and hair extensions. They can do the same with this guy.

I read that it was going to cost too much in digital effects to 'de-age' him from his current age of 57 back down to age 33, the age he was when the last movie was made. He still needs to look exactly the same age, as the 2nd movie takes place only days later in the story.
I mean, it seems to me, the de-aging would be easier than trying to make guy #2 look identical to Jim Caviezel's Jesus. But what do I know?

I really think you are incorrect if you oppose any likeness / image of Jesus.....for many reasons.......

Yeah, as far as I can tell, their reasoning for it is because they believe that if you make a statue or a drawing or hire an actor to play God or Jesus, that people are so stupid they will worship the literal statue or drawing or actor instead of what they represent. Like when you have your hand on your heart while the star spangled banner plays, it means you’re singing to a literal flag on a pole and not what it represents.
Better to have no depictions of Jesus anywhere at all, while the populace get bombarded 24/7 with Satanism, homosexuality and Cardi B’s WAP 👍

Why? The first was just unending misery porn that stretched credulity to breaking point. I know Jesus suffered bigly but the movie depicts a superhuman level of durability. He would have died by infection and sepsis before he ever got anywhere near the cross from what I watched!! He was still human remember - that was the entire point!!
Because the story of Christ is not that of the brutal killing of an itenerant preacher by the Romans at the behest of money changers.
It is the story of His Resurrection
why has it taken 20 years to do the main movie then?
