As a boomer, I'm AMAZED at how many people my age never grew out of the Democratic party! I was a HUGE Democrat supporter throughout my 20's (I even voted for Dukakis (I just threw up in my mouth a little), but eventually realized how foolish the Democratic party is. (how did so many of my generation not see that?) The Democratic party appeals to emotion and relies on ignorance; basically appealing to immature people of any age, and people who just don't get wiser with age.
I spoke to an 80 year old Democrat who was basically a republican but he was just utterly brainwashed by his tradition and TDS. He even assumed I was a fellow democrat because I am a young female. I think a lot of them are like that. I've met others with extreme, scary TDS complete with outbursts--and I think that is the type of elder that attends these meetings.
Well I never was a Democrat (53model) cause I was married to a Texas Republican at 19 yo and moved to far west Texas ( cowboys etc- real men and women) but I’ve been in central Texas these last 30+ years and most of the boomers I know who are liberal are transplants from Cali, Wisconsin etc even though they’ve been here 30-40 years
I'm a boomer too, my parents, and most of my extended family were Democrats. As soon as I was old enough to vote, it was for Republicans. The reason? I was fully self supporting at age eighteen, and knew even then that the Dems were not my party. Meanwhile siblings and cousins were college students, who went along with their friends and became Democrats. Hmm, wonder why that was.
The worst kind of hypocrite, on the outside they are protesting the system, while each and everyone has profited from the system.
I bet each one has a large mortgage free home, several rental properties where they are screwing people with rent and a healthy cash nest egg with a stock portfolio.
This is why they have the time to “protest”, their worthless parasitical lives are subsided by others. You work, they play, while they tell you “the systems broken man”.
I'm not a boomer, I'm a first yr Gen X - both my parents were born in 41. I have never been a Dem. My parents have always been Republican. They were firm believers in God, Country and Family, in that order. I don't understand the appeal - is it lack of responsibility? Is it just a finger to "the man"? Is part of this outlook from the days of the draft, where young men's lives were put on the line whether they were behind the action or not? I don't get it.
I was speaking in reference to the senior boomer crowds at the rallies. When they were young, like myself, we were Kennedy Democrats. The party had different values back then. We had big dreams to help those up that society had forgotten - we had hearts. But sadly, as time progressed, the Democrat Party changed and left us behind. I refused to go the direction the party was taking - others sadly, didn't get the memo. Today the party looks nothing like it did under the Kennedys. It now represents evil and has attracted completely different types of fringe elements. Those boomers that cannot see the difference "have no brains."
I should have clarified my point of reference better. Thanks for your reply.
The Kennedy Democrats were outliers of the Democratic party and that is why they had JFK and RFK killed. The Democrat party has always been evil. It's the party of slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow laws, lynching, perpetual welfare and handouts stolen from taxpayers, illegal immigration, and general liars cheaters and thieves.
We could say the same thing about the Republican party. Is their history any better? Think Bush, Cheney and the rest of their globalist ilk. They could have dramatically shifted things several times, but they didn't. Why? It is all been one evil globalist uniparty. There is plenty of blame to go around for things being in the state where we are now - and both parties had a hand in it. They just worked it from different angles.
I was more focused on the actual makeup of the party base itself. The people were different back then. In many ways, the more conservative and moderate people kept the more leftist elements of the Dem party in check. The fringe elements were exactly that, fringe. Republicans have also had their fringe elements. But, at least Republicans have kept them at arm's length - like the crazy weird cousin that many families deal with.
The country as a whole was more conservative in the 50's, 60's, and even into the 70's. Unfortunately, that has not been the case over the last several decades. The Democrat fringe is now defining the party. But by appealing to this fringe, the end of the Dem party is in view. Both parties needed correction. What makes us different from them is that MAGA and Trump are cleaning out our own house. The Dems are not making correction, they are doubling down. The Republican party is slowly being forced to answer to the American people - and it shows. That is why those more moderate and conservative Dems are walking away and supporting Trump. They can recognize sanity when they see it. The rest, like I said, have no brains.
Guess I've never had a heart. I've never been a Dem. I've voted Dem just a few times in my life, but the Republican alternative was 100% unacceptable (David Duke) and could not be allowed to win.
Until Trump came on the scene, I always had to hold my nose when voting - trying to decide which was the better of two really bad candidates.
I guess the saying fits better under the old Kennedy Democrat model, which is what applies to the makeup of the crowds at the no kings rally - all the senior boomer participants. Unfortunately for the country and Democrats, that model has long since been replaced by the more radical woke communist leftists that make up a large part of the party today. Some of the moderates still haven't gotten that memo. I used to be a Kennedy Democrat and left the Dems years ago when I saw the shift taking place. I didn't leave the party, it left me. I floundered for years as a nonpartisan, not becoming a Republican until Trump. I am sure I am but one among many that have walked that path. Those old boomer Dems still hanging on to the old Democrat values would fall into the "no brains" group.
I should have clarified my point of reference better. Thank you for your reply.
I appreciate your candor as well. I think what I see as my own biggest personal downfall when it comes to politics is I am equally guilty of voting party over person. Until Q, I never really bothered knowing exactly what a candidate stood for, as long as that R was there, outside a few extreme elections. I wouldn't have voted Kennedy back then, but I would now.
I am sure you are not alone fren. For far too long people have voted straight party lines and simply trusted that the letter attached to a name meant that a candidate would have a certain platform. I have always looked at candidates closely - listening to what they say and especially examining their actions. Never trust a politician. That is why Trump was/is so refreshing. He is not a politician. He completely shattered that mold. Trump woke up many people to more closely examine whether a particular candidate aligns with what they personally believe is good for the country and their families, regardless of party affiliation. Love him or hate him, Trump has been good for our Republic's political process, laying bare that often ugly process for the American people to see first hand.
Yes, Trump should be the role model for presidents moving forward. I truly appreciate that he TALKS to us and LISTENS - at this point, the rest can go. None of my reps - house or Senate - do that.

Some people just aren't smart enough (or don't make time to pay attention) to see through all their clever BS.

You said it. The reason they didn't wake up is because they didn't grow up - they only got older.

They are champagne communist treasonous rats.
These were probably not the most intelligent of people when they were young -- so it's to be expected that they'd end up this way.
A college “education” only means you have a good memory and can retell everything you have been “taught”.
Critical thinking is discouraged.
A university degree doesn’t mean you are intelligent or clever. It means you are a human photocopier.
Real life rapidly shows you how little you actually learned in college.
I say that as someone who has a university degree and is now self employed.

How does the saying go? If you aren't a Democrat when young, you have no heart. If you aren't a Republican when you're older, you have no brain.
We all know now that the Democrats never had a heart to begin with. That party is pure evil.

DemonKKKRats have ALWAYS been evil. Those on the Republican side you speak of are RINOs. Republican In Name Only = Democrat

Have a great week!

Not only does he talk to us, he listens and takes action instead of just offering lip service.
Exactly - and now, that's precisely what I want from every president going forward. They have H U G E shoes to fill.
SPOT ON !
