What is the 4D chess move with importing $20 billion of Argentinian beef?
posted 256 days ago by boogeyman420 256 days ago by boogeyman420 +28 / -0

This to bring all the ranchers out of the woodwork to call attention to these dumb policies our farmers have to deal with?

Well I'm not sure if there's a 4d element to it.

  1. There's definitely a globalist bent against red meat. They don't want you eating the healthiest thing on the planet. The propaganda against red meat is astonishing and has a long history. They want you eating 10 servings of bread and grains (slave food).

  2. Beef prices are going up and most likely on purpose to keep the masses sick.

  3. The Big Agriculture lobby is powerful and so this may be a short cut around them. The Big Agriculture lobby pushes grain foods. Cheap, empty calories that can be mass produced in a centralized, controlled fashion and probably funded by the powers that be.

  4. Argentina is known for beef. So that's the cherry on top.

Right. The low-fat craze was based on a lie. Bread and Circuses is now Pizza and Sports.

People are healing all kinds of ailments on a carnivore diet. Type 2 diabetes is usually gone in 6 weeks!

What's gonna say this. Argentina is famous for their plethora of ways to prepare and cook beef. I have a legally naturalized friend from Argentina and what he can do with beef is out of this world. Until we can free the US beef production, this is probably the next best thing.

We’re short on beef. We’ve had at least 3 years of continuous droughts in some of the largest beef producing states. People couldn’t feed their cows, no grain, no hay, and way too expensive. They had to cull their herd, some ranchers lost it all. On top of the drought, we had fires that killed quite a few, other herds perished in the heat. Then we had a couple of really cold winters that resulted in even more loss. There isn’t a move to cull the cattle, ranchers are currently selling their lesser cattle because the prices are really high right now. Current statistics from my cattle mags predict that it will take at least 4 years to grow our US herd back to a size that will finally bring down prices. As far as vaccines go, many ranchers are refusing to do anything other than deworm their cattle. We’re paying attention and have been for quite a while now.

Dipping back in on this convo also. Not trying to get in the way, I want to help provide solutions. Tell me, us , what you need. We had the hit, we had no venue to combat that attack. So now, we have an avenue. Lets work together.

The low numbers/high prices is a fundamental thing. Simple supply/demand. Its going to take time to rebuild the herd. 4 years minimum, assuming these prices stay up. If they dont, there's no way the US cattle herd will recover. The average age of producers is 63+ years old. Many are selling out and have no one to continue their businesses.

As for consumer prices, there are 4 packers that control 85% of the entire beef industry. And a similar situation for retailers. These people are making all of the money. Its a HUGE problem. They need to be broken up.

I am a Trump guy thru and thru, but hes really hurt producers wallet the last week with his comments. He just doesnt understand the complexities involved. I hope he will become informed. Because cattle production is close to a point of no return in my humble opinion. 9 years out of 10 cattle are sold for prices below the vost of production at prices SET BY THE PACKERS. There is no way any business can survive that. Most times farms survive due to off farm income. Its quite sad.

Best thing we can do is enforce anti-trust laws. They own most the food production in the country.

Totally understand, the price issue is the chop houses, the middle man. Trump knows this. He unleashed $$ for farms and farmers, so don't worry. He is going to do them right. I myself am considering going into the business, when land comes down, if it does. God Bless You Patriot, Love you !

Wasn't there a DS move to cull cattle or some such hit to domestic ranchers? While imports won't help domestic ranchers, in theory this would keep supplies in the grocery store with minimal price increases. Eggs have come back down to earth, but beef prices have surged tremendously over the last year. Perhaps this move is geared to help consumers and the overall market. Definitely won't help ranchers in the short term though.

(insert rancher poking baby cow with long stick. "grow faster") sigh. Chicken's reproduce and produce much much faster than cows do, that is why.

This is true. A chicken cycle is 6-8 weeks. 100 million can be replaced in a year no problem. A small chicken farmer with one barn usually has something like 20k-40k birds.

Larger barns usually have 500,000 chickens. The larger farms usually have 6 to 10 500k barns per location. That would be 3 to 5 million chickens each. There are hundreds of the small to medium size all over northern Indiana alone.

I was just over at a brand new nursery and they had 30k chicks and they'll turn them around every 6-8 weeks or so. Once he gets through about a year he'll build 2 more and go from there.

Prices for eggs just recently went down = Chicken farmer's egg laying hens must of matured enough to be super producing again.

– Rooks 1 point 256 days ago +1 / -0

Yes, but in truth when they said they had to kill 70 million or so what, last year? That would not even have been the whole production in northern indiana, let alone the rest of the country.

The price hikes really are more fuel/inflation related rather than production.

fuel/inflation/regulations costs: each time a state tacks on a new regulation that has the farmers (or any business) paying more money to stay open for business just to meet the requirements of that regulation, the higher the prices will be to cover the losses of the farmers. I pointed out the PNW water rights push.. where they are fining smaller farmers into the ground just to legally use ground water on their own acres for farming. If they have any enclosed barns with floor = you now get to pay more money as well. Little sneaky regulations to push people away from any sort of farming on their lands.

True but, I pref beef, cant stand the gamey tasting stuff. Beef or seafood for me and chicken sometimes but, not the same. heh. If was literally starving though, got wild rabbit and squirrel around the property. Just no reason for Beef to be out of reach in the USA and we know that globally, they been getting rid of it by force or through regulations that make impossible for the farmers to stay afloat. Here in the US, pretty sure it was a combo of things, depending on the state you live in. Water rights struggle been real for the PNW for instance..

Now they are injecting them with bullshit vax. So, yeah the Boss wants steaks.

No we didn’t. Droughts, fire, heat stress, and extremely cold winters year after year have decimated the US herd. It will take time to rebuild but that process is happening right now. Most of the ranchers I know aren’t vaxxing anymore, deworm only, ivermectin, valbazen, and the like. Now, if you’re saying that we can’t find butchers, yeah, that is an issue but even that problem is getting better recently.

I don't want to push back on you as you sound like your in the industry. I know the industry took a huge hit, much from the feds, fart bags for cattle and rediculousness. The feed with GMO corn and all. Lets get to the bottom line, we want to fix this, What do you need ? Tell us and we can work together. Our information is about sabotage and brutal FDA. We can get you feed and other things crowd funded, in no time. So lets open that dialouge.

Honestly, the problem is the lack of farmers/ranchers. There are very few youngsters - less than 30 year olds going into farming and ranching. Today’s average age for a rancher is 58, Generation X, of which I am a member :). I’m in a rural area, which historically was ranching and farming. I’ve watched the older ranchers in my area sell off their ranches, piece by piece, 10 acre plots up to the whole ranch at premium land prices because the next generation, millennials, don’t want to work that hard and aren’t interested in preserving a family legacy. I have hope for this younger generation, gen Z. We need more young people willing to farm and ranch. Short article that elucidates the issues way better than I have. https://www.carsonvalleymeats.com/4-issues-facing-ranchers-today/

Edit: As a side note, my new “next door” neighbor is gen Z, bright young man, continuing the family tradition of ranching. I’m looking forward to giving him all of the benefits of what I had to learn the hard way.

THANK YOU BROTHER ! That is very well said and understandable. I plan on starting my own farm in the next few years as I can segway into it. Perhaps I can contact you for advice regarding these very things in which I plan to advocate for as well. We need each other and we need this grass roots approach to going back to living on our land and supporting our local community 100% ! Again, Thank You.

You’re welcome and questions are encouraged. I’m primarily a livestock person, I do know some soil science, I’m somewhat knowledge on the plants/pests area as I’m still learning those things myself. I don’t know which state you live in, I live in Texas. If you’re anywhere in Texas, the county agricultural extension agency is a great go-to start for questions about plants, soil, and livestock that are specific to your area.
