taxes in NYC, you probably have more money than you realize. You could live like a king in a red state plus have better quality of life. You are worth it! Life is short. If at all possible get out of NYC. You will end up saving money and your sanity. Best wishes.

Moving is good advice. Move away. Cost of living is typically 20%-50% of what it is in NY even in expensive areas.
Depending on occupation you can still command a high salary. If you say there is no money in flyover, if you are looking for DEI director or something equally stupid, yes, you are right. If you are talking real jobs, we have you covered.
So what when tje fovernment of nyc and ny state leave all your big buck in their pockets. I retired very comfortably from idaho at 60. Its not how much you make its how much they spend.

That's not totally true. I've been wanting to leave commiefornia for ages. I've looked at jobs with the same title.. I'd lose 25% or more
