Yep. Nothing new. It's been going on in the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB for years. Brian Touhy wrote a book about it back in 2012. He has testimony from former players and a lot of proofs in the book. As he says, "Would you leave a multi-billion dollar industry up to chance?"

They all say that the sports programs are "entertainment".
Not really they are distractions just to avoid everybody to see how corrupt they are and the world. Sports is just crap.
