I wish they would keep daylight savings time throughout the year. I hate that it will now be getting dark at only 5 in the afternoon, and in a few weeks, at 4:30!
I'd rather keep standard time. That's what we all used when I was growing up We didn't have to change our clocks or lose sleep. For anyone who wants their clocks to change, they can just change them on their own. You can set your clock back two hours and you can have light until 6:30. But what good does it do? None.
Why is that so important now, when it wasn't for most of our history? We didn't have "Daylight Savings Time" back when I was in school. BTW, getting dark by 5PM didn't matter, because my father was home from work before then. Also, he worked, so he was tired and didn't go anywhere else at night. The garden and the yard were dead for the winter, so there was no yard work to do either.
I would much rather stay on standard time the whole year like it used to be, ever since the railroads started it back in the 1800s. We just used local time before that.
Not really. Standard time was created by man in the era of transcontinental trains in the 1800s. The schedules had to be correct. Before that, we used local time, the real "God's time." When the sun was highest overhead, it was called noon.
Having Asperger's (autism), I actually bought one of those old railroad schedule books from a hundred years ago. It was fascinating how they had every stop timed to the minute. But at least here in "flatland," there are no hills to climb or any sharp curves. I believe the longest absolutely straight section of track in the country is in NC.
They say you have to have a collection of over 1,000 books to call it a library. I definitely have a library in my house. On some subjects, I have more volumes than any official library in the area.
If you want to get in to something fascinating, look up telegraphic codes. Back in the days of sending telegrams and paying by the word, people figured out they could make up code words that stood for entire sentences in plain English. There are a ton of systems. You can download code books from Archive.org. I have over a hundred libraries on my computer's hard drives.
Standard time is all there was when I was growing up. You can easily reset your own clock and make it 5PM or even 6PM. It's nature. Days are just shorter in the winter. Get over it.
Time to remember to turn on the porch light every time you leave the house in the afternoon.
Did you know that back in the day when people went to bed when the sun went down, they woke at around midnight for a couple of hours and went back to sleep until dawn.
When I worked, I would go to bed around 10 to get up at 5. When I retired and was no longer babysitting my new granddaughter, I discovered that I would wake up at 3 and be ready for a nap at 5. I solved the sleep rhythm problem by staying up until around midnight and sleep until 7.
Here a description of the two sleeps. There's also a YouTube video, which is where I learned about it.

For those working, it allows SOME daylight time when they get home (although not for those weeks where it is getting dark by 5)

I'd rather spring ahead and stay ahead.
Same
I'd rather stay on standard time.
...seems the crane is overkill - must b simplier ways to move the pieces no
Aliens? 🛸👽
Give us a break - all time is God's time
I'd love it if Trump would executive order the clock switching out of existence - give us brighter evenings year round
I wouldn't mind that...just hate switching!
Standard time was set up by the railroads in the 1800s for their schedules. Local time was the rule before that.
...indeed...
My 40 hr work week does not rhyme with God's time, ever.
Correct chik!
Stonehenge is in England. They set their clocks back last week 10/26/25.
Kek! 😹
The heavy rocks maybe why they start a week earlier. LOL
True dat! 😉
I actually do better on daylight savings time I'm tired all winter long but it's better than sending kids to school in the dark.
Thanks for this! I had forgotten about the time change.

Thanks fren...I remember reading about the Railroad Schedules years ago!

That's a treasure find! ✨

Never heard that before and my Mom & Daddy came from farming families...
