End the filibuster, then end the shutdown! Be heros! America first!
Don't have to end it - Just SUSPEND IT!
End the Filibuster by nuke is Not America First! - It's Majority Rule running roughshod over minority groups. (Look how Democrat governors used similar powers during COVID to see why this has horrid idea written all over it!)
Also, there is more likely to be a consensus (in the Senate -with some moderate Dems and Libertarian leaning on both sides) on temporary end to the filibuster ( HUGE Hat Tip to konadog for the post with the most brilliant idea!) than to go 'nuclear' and just end the filibuster entirely, or have a 'tactical' end to filibustering some bills (which would also be better than a full on end to the filibuster.

seems like a doable plan?
if this pr plan had been done weeks ago, could the Virginia & New Jersey elections have turned out differently?
Also, is the spending over healthcare really worth the shutdown? the healthcare system has led to huge waste and unnecessary deaths, I just think that spending battle political was not well thought out in terms of MAGA & Great Awakening
I think so. But I think the Democrats held off because they wanted these off election year wins first.
I'm not sure the whole Winsome Sears campaign was well thought out either. But we do need to be watching the whole picture and the whole economy - It's The Economy Stupid! We should be explaining how the Obamacare subsidies actually benefit the rich (which Winsome Sears should have done) while explaining about the benefit of more choices for everybody.
you explained that really well! thanks, MAGA and Republican candidates hopefully will learn
Why keep a goof going?
The filibuster is neither a glitch or a goof, as explained above. It is a means of preventing:
https://www.senate.gov/about/powers-procedures/filibusters-cloture/overview.htm
Granted, it has been used for both good and evil, but it still gives the minority party (or opinion) a tool to prevent bad bills from passing- and could also be used to prevent an unscrupulous President from stacking the Supreme Court. IMHO, this is why a suspension of the filibuster or a tactical removal of some ability to filibuster, would be far better than a full on nuking of it.
How about representing the US citizens rather than parties? The filibuster came about after a Senate goof in 1805-1806.
Yup, the end of the filibuster is coming.
It’d be interesting to see just how they would manage it. As of now they’re short of the votes by a substantial margin not a bare handful
