The Eastern side facing the Mt of Olives is the only part of the complex that can even be considered linked to Solomon's Temple - mostly because Herod could not expand there - it butted the Kidron Valley. Because of the connection with Solomon's Temple that is why Jesus always hung out there - Solomon's Porch. His disciples continued to meet there until they left Jerusalem, before the Romans destroyed the place.
