That is why I put down a shallow well Pitcher Pump, like some of our grandparents used, before a city actually had a municipal water system. My mom and dad, when young, did not have running water in the house.

Never mind that 70% of the planet's surface is covered with water, the demons will somehow make it scarce.
It's pretty expensive on a large scale to desalinate sea water.
I watched some videos on it and was surprised how hard/expensive it was.
On the othes hand, go research the aquifer system of the world. There is plenty of fresh water to go around.
