The very first time I heard this speech, I had absolutely no idea what he was going on about. Now I feel nostalgic for the days I didnt know what he was going on about.
I'm right there with you BB...
Once we have the eyes to see & the ears to hear, it gets deep.
"For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracythat relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.
Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed. It conducts the Cold War, in short, with a war-time discipline no democracy would ever hope or wish to match."
~JFK, "The President and The Press" Speech, April 27, 1961
I read somewhere many years ago, and I couldn't find it again just now, that said Nixon was talking to someone a few years after his presidency where he said something along the lines of: "...it's a beast. I couldn't stop it."
(contextually, it was inferred to be as it relates to the same "conspiracy" JFK spoke of)
"...there was a fourth beast (world empire), dreadful and frightful and exceedingly strong; and it had large iron teeth (western weapons for devouring people); it devoured and crushed and trampled down the remainder wiht its feet; and it was different from all the beast that were before it; and it had 10 horns (leaders, G10?). Daniel 7:7.
"Thus he said, The fourth beast will be the fourth kingdom upon the earth, which will be different from all the other kingdoms; and it will devour the whole earth and tread it down and crush it." Daniel 7:23
AND President Kennedy was VERY PRECIENT on this VERY FACT and I want to say that there was a VERY GOOD REASON FOR HIM TO GIVE THAT SPEECH and I do think that is what got him killed!!!!!!!!
Right back at you!!!!!...will hoist one in your honor!!!! God Bless and may this Christmas Season find you well for the next year...AND I CAN'T WAIT TO GET THAT STARTED...I just turned 75 and being on here just makes my rockets ready to fire at any time!!!!!!
Her call to unite around the idea of freedom is very strong. she also emphasized strongly Sharia is not compatible with the founding of the USA (quoting the declaration of Independence), personal responsibility of standing up of free speech, more of it: defend to the death the right to say it.
I remember the first time I heard that speech - I had just given a friend a book by Stan Deyo on UFO's and he had a cassette (yeah those days) and said "take this home and listen to it"
He didn't say anything about JFK so I didn't know who the speaker was. I listened to it and couldn't figure out who he was talking about. So I went back to my friend and asked him. He said JFK was talking about the Commies the Russians. AH HA! It all made sense. Those pesky russians - I knew it! lol and for a long time that's what I believed.
Kennedy did appreciate a free and open press. I would have liked to see the results he would have had had he lived. I still remember when I was in school and they announced over the intercom that President Kennedy had been shot, it was a sad, sad day.
Me too... was at school, it was during lunch, and the principal came out and he was crying. He stood on one of the tables and made the announcement. It was a terrible day, and I knew in my soul that nothing would ever be the same again.

Tulsi Gabbard also repeated those famous lines in her speech @ TPUSA.
The entire speech or key sections.
key sections.

Personally, I was quite taken with her speech.
She's a Warrior skipper...ever better than I thought..
Pleasant surprise.
