Lucky for me I went to a Parochial School RUN by NUNS and my late father was an accountant...He would sit with me at the dinner table and help me with my math and that was in 1st grade...
Side Note: when I got out of the Military the first time I went to collage on GI Bill and got a degree in Mech Engineering and when the OIL BOOM went South, went back to school and got a degree in Computer Science...I have NOT REGRETTED ONE THING I DID...and I just turned 75 two days ago!!!!!
And it was that Help I got when I started school that helped me understand mathematics and I still enjoy a good equation now-and-then...😁😁😁😁😁😁
I used to hear stuff like ‘so and so historical figure only had a 6th grade education’. Now we have colleges giving remedial math and reading comprehension course. College today is basically 13th grade. The average college freshman non Ivy League today probably couldn’t pass a 6th grade 1800s exam.
They no longer need well educated People to work the Industrial Revolution. When you look over history, you can see how Society was used to serve the Interest of the Globalist Bankers. The current Education system is a Disgrace. Since Jimmy Carter started the Federal Education Department, students have done worse & worse.
This is learning!!! I went in the 70's & 80's and it was hard but nothing like this. No common core math?!!! The Kenyan wrecked many kids with that nonsense.
My Grandaughter plays softball at a magnet HS. They had two 9th graders taking the gate and it was $3 for adults. I gave them a $10 for my wife and I AND between the two of them, they could not figure out the change. That is not funny when they will soon be Driving a 4000 pound weapon on the streets. The 'school system' should be Stomped and embarrassed until Kids can Count money.
Inner city students would not be able to read it, period. They'd tell the teachers to go fuck themselves and continue smoking a joint in the back of the class secure in the knowledge nothing would happen to them.
The math part of that exam is all story problems. I've never met a math teacher who actually taught students how to solve these. They teach processes and spring the story problems on tests. Then they wonder why students perform poorly.
There are actually key words that indicate which operation to use in solving a specific problem, but for some reason math teachers guard this information as if it were a state secret. If you want to learn it, you need to buy a book which tells you how to do them.
Then you had really good teachers. I NEVER had a math teacher say a single word about how to do those. We had calculations but never saw "story problems" until they showed up on a test. It was as if they expected us to somehow figure it out on our own. Well, we didn't.
High school grads of today would not fair well with that.
"would not fare well"
You mean...
Thank you. I despise autocorrect but don't mind constructive criticism.
no worries, i always find it amusing when someone calling out spelling and grammar also fails ;)
Probably 90% of college grads would have trouble getting a passing grade.

Further, they lack Social Skills and Empathy. They no longer care how they stand out in Society.
Yea. Took a test like this years ago and failed.

Well yeah.........but could they name all 62 genders?

No multiple choice questions. All comprehensive to see what you really know.
Most of today's 8th grade kids would struggle greatly with the following test questions being presented.
I would love to see the answers to these as there is much I don’t know.
Yes indeed. Me too!
They misspelled "Sir Walter Raleigh"

Stupidity is now a superpower

Math word problems. Like real world use of math. Had those all the time in school.

It was awhile ago…should be brought back. But the teachers likely are too ignorant of the info needed to create the tests.
Well, "give" should be "given" for a start.
This is why people say GPA is meaningless 😢
I don't think it's just education and culture. I think they're using poisons in our food, water, and medicines to dumb us down.
