I have long wondered about Thomas Massie and I've been firmly on the fence in terms of my opinion of him.
No longer.
He complained about Maduro's capture today: https://x.com/RepThomasMassie/status/2007469970364539092
While the White House & the President have done an extremely poor job of explaining to the American people what the attacks on narco boats are really about, Massie knows.
Specifically he knows the two reasons President Trump is doing what he's doing:
-
The Cartels have more influence on the U.S. than nearly every other foreign country. They wield enormous power on American politicians and policy and many of their foot soldiers serve as private assassins on our soil.
-
The hub of Western voter fraud is Venezuela. Dominion is legally based in Venezuela and election data flows through the country.
Trump is destroying the influence of the cartels and crippling international voter fraud.
Thomas Massie KNOWS this. He MUST know this. If he doesn't, he's an imbecile and he doesn't strike me as an imbecile.
So while I long wondered if he was simply a Constitutional Zealot (there are worse things one can be) or simply a deep state gadfly in sheep's clothing, I no longer wonder.
Yeah, the verdict is in, he's kind of a Masshole.
Kek
100% agreed.
And….China. Massie knows China was involved in Venezuela too…
Add MTG.
Welcome to the Assie is worthless party, buckaroo.
How long must we endure this goofball
It is because Massie has no clue what is going on! Many people think that Maduro won the last election in Venezuela. HE DID NOT! Maduro is not the duly elected President of Venezuela! The U.S. didn’t conduct a regime change. Our military conducted a real police action in defense of our National Security to remove a drug & human trafficking cartel leader that’s been holding the entire country of Venezuela hostage. Bleeding it dry. You wanna know what the Marxist-democrats & sell out Rinos had planned for us? The same kind of existence that the people living in Venezuela had yesterday!
I don’t buy the Massie has no clue explanation. The guy is extremely sharp. He has a background in electrical and mechanical engineering from MIT (the MIT) and has developed solar power for his home in Kentucky. He’s not a dumbass, he’s a brain. Newly remarried since 1st wife’s death - seems a little off.
The road to hell is paved with Ivy League degrees!
That’s sad.
I've thought his wife's death was - uh - suspicious. Shortly after that, Massie changed. It's almost like he is playing ball with the other team now that they drafted him - against his will.
It reminds me of a certain car wreck in Georgia in December 2020.
I had the exact same thoughts.
Every congress critter whining about Maduro, or drug boats getting blown up is a full blown congressional coke-head. Just a bunch of untouchable druggies feeling the heat for a change. Prove me wrong.
Fraudulent elections/Selections is how Massie got elected/Selected along with so many others.
"simply a Constitutional Zealot". If you do not hold the Constitution as the ONLY go or no go on government action, then I question your grasp of the nature of our form of Government.
Massie is not wrong on the Constitutional concerns about the actions taken. Whether it was a good thing, or a bad thing, really isn't the point. It is the action that is 100% contrary to the legitimate powers delegated to government, and desecrates the principles upon which our Republic was established.
I think the world is better off with Maduro removed from power, but that doesn't change the limits of legitimate delegated government power.
“Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.” ~ Daniel Webster (1782-1852) US Senator A speech delivered at Niblo's Saloon, in New York, on the 15th of March 1837, "Great Speeches and Orations of Daniel Webster", by Edwin Whipple, page 393.
“The fundamental principle is this: No matter how worthwhile an end may be, if there is no constitutional authority to pursue it, then the federal government must step aside and leave the matter to the states or to private parties. The president and Congress can proceed only from constitutional authority, not from good intentions alone. If Congress thinks it necessary to expand its powers, the Framers crafted an amendment process for that purpose. But too often, rather than follow that process, Congress has disregarded the limits set by the Constitution and gutted our frontline defense against overweening federal government.” ~ Robert A. Levy (1941- ) Chairman of Cato Institute, author, lawyer
“The first sign of corruption in a society that is still alive is that the end justifies the means.” ~ Georges Bernanos (1888-1949) French author The Last Essays of Georges Bernanos, 1955
“[America] goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own. She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example. She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom.” ~ John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) 6th US President Speech before the House of Representatives, July 4, 1821; quoted in William Bonner and Pierre Lemieux (Editors), The Idea of America (Les Belles Lettres, 2003), p. 237
“No power but Congress can declare war; but what is the value of this constitutional provision, if the President of his own authority may make such military movements as must bring on war? ... [T]hese remarks originate purely in a desire to maintain the powers of government as they are established by the Constitution between the different departments, and hope that, whether we have conquests or no conquests, war or no war, peace or no peace, we shall yet preserve, in its integrity and strength, the Constitution of the United States.” ~ Daniel Webster (1782-1852) US Senator December 2, 1846 speech in Philadelphia.
I thought I made it pretty clear that there are far worse things than being a "Constitutional Zealot" in my post. I'm one myself EXCEPT when it comes to pragmatism and the reality of global politics.
You posted a lot, but said very little.
Just state your position instead of overwhelming everyone with exposition.
History, and the actual principles upon which our government and Republic was established, are not exposition, they are facts forgotten by most Americans today. Global politics have always been a thing, but they do not negate the absolutes of the limits of delegated power.
That is a fact.
“We may be tossed upon an ocean where we can see no land -- nor, perhaps, the sun or stars. But there is a chart and a compass for us to study, to consult, and to obey. That chart is the Constitution.” ~ Daniel Webster (1782-1852) US Senator
“A constitution defines and limits the powers of the government it creates. It therefore follows, as a natural and also a logical result, that the governmental exercise of any power not authorized by the constitution is an assumed power, and therefore illegal.” ~ Thomas Paine (1737-1809) US Founding father, pamphleteer, author
Hopefully this results in a massive trove of evidence regarding the stolen elections, massive corruption, and the planned destruction of our Republic by the communist democrats.
My hope is that once we are able to restore our Republic that the Constitution will be restored to the inviolable Law of the Land it was intended to be.
I am sure we will find out he and many other Rinos were on Maduro's payroll.
Not sure about Maduro, but he is on someone's.
