While they have an 18 month term, they are not prevented from issuing indictments any time during that term. It just depends on how soon they have sufficient evidence to act. Hopefully the government has their evidence ready to go and since the accused has no part to play at this stage, quick action could result.
That's what George says it is for. It just doesn't say that anywhere in the text, or reference a case number where we can verify this is what it is for.
No not really. I want the full and complete truth, not rehashed 6 month old news which is reposted constantly for clicks.
RacinetheMeme: What Papa posted appears to be true as the link from October 2025 above states:
According to Administrative Order 2025-74, issued by Chief U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga on September 26, two new federal grand juries will be seated in the Southern District of Florida—one in Fort Lauderdale and another in Fort Pierce—both scheduled to begin sitting on January 12, 2026.

Grand Juries take 18 months.. So it will be awhile before we see any results from this.

Hope not...
For federal grand juries, the term is standardized across the country at 18 months.
Encouraging that the Grand Jury is empaneled in Florida rather than either New York or Washington, D.C.
I agree...
Unfortunately both of these counties lock down their grand juries, so we'd never know what happens unless arrests are made or a leak happens.
Even in the "proof" article linked below they say that there is no evidence what this jury is going to look at, it's really frustrating.
It is, but I have faith fren...
It doesn't say what they're being empaneled for.

That's from October of last year, no real way to know it's connected. If this was relevant, they'd have updated like they did back in October.
Tough crowd in here right now.
