Has florida removed ALL vaccine mandates for those in the state?
Showing results for Florida, US
As of January 18, 2026, Florida has not removed all vaccine mandates statewide.
While Governor Ron DeSantis and Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo announced plans on September 3, 2025, to end all vaccine mandates—including those for school entry—this effort is ongoing and incomplete. The state has initiated administrative rulemaking to remove mandates for certain vaccines under the Florida Department of Health’s authority, such as hepatitis B, varicella (chickenpox), Hib, and pneumococcal conjugate vaccines, with changes scheduled to take effect in December 2025.
However, vaccines required by state statute, including those for polio, diphtheria, measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), pertussis, and tetanus, remain in place. These statutory mandates cannot be repealed without action by the Florida Legislature, and as of November 26, 2025, no legislative bill to repeal these requirements had been filed.
The next legislative session, beginning in January 2026, will be critical for any broader changes. Until then, the legal framework for most childhood vaccine requirements remains intact. Public health experts warn that removing mandates without replacement safeguards could increase the risk of preventable disease outbreaks.
So one of the most free states in the union has vaxx mandate?
That makes Scandinavia more free then. We might need a lisense for hunting/owning guns and have high taxrate, but at least my children can be pureblood.
… requiring certain health care practitioners and paramedics to, before administering a vaccine to a minor child, inform the parent or legal guardian of certain information …
… authorizing pharmacists to provide ivermectin to adults without a prescription as a behind-the-counter medication until the United States Food and Drug Administration approves it for over-the-counter sale

No, Florida has not removed all vaccine mandates, including those for school attendance, as of January 2026.
Florida announced plans in September 2025—led by Governor Ron DeSantis and Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo—to eliminate all state vaccine mandates, including requirements for school entry and attendance. This would make Florida the first U.S. state to do so, scrapping longstanding requirements for vaccines protecting against diseases like measles, mumps, rubella, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and others.
However, the process is ongoing and not fully complete:The Florida Department of Health has authority to repeal some mandates via rules (e.g., for hepatitis B, varicella/chickenpox, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), and pneumococcal conjugate vaccines). Steps were taken to repeal these by late 2025 or early 2026, with some sources noting changes effective by December 2025.
Core requirements (e.g., for polio, diphtheria, measles, rubella, pertussis, mumps, and tetanus) are enshrined in state statute (Florida Statutes §1003.22), requiring legislative action to repeal. The 2026 legislative session (starting January 2026) was expected to address this broader repeal, but no sources confirm full passage and enactment of a complete elimination by mid-January 2026.
Official Florida Department of Health pages on school immunization requirements still describe mandates (e.g., doses for varicella and others for school entry), with no indication of total removal.
COVID-19 vaccine mandates were never required for school attendance in Florida (no state ever broadly mandated it for K-12), and the state prohibited them early on, along with other COVID-related requirements.
Public health groups (e.g., AMA, AAP) have opposed the move, warning of potential outbreaks. Exemptions (medical, religious) already exist and have increased, but mandates remain in place until fully repealed.
NC had a requirement for shots and vaccines when I started school in 1959 for smallpox. I didn't get it until 2nd grade because I went to a private school for 1st grade. I was partly through 2nd grade before the school found out I didn't have the smallpox vaccination, so I had to get it. I still have my doctor's note saying I had all my shots for school. My mother wrote all the dates on the back.
Modern shots are full of mercury, aluminum, and other stuff we don't need. Even the polio shots I got in 1957 were contaminated with a monkey virus that may show up to bite me any day. My last shot ever was the swine flu shot of 1976. It was stopped after 25 people died from it.
Perfectly good point.
