It becomes more prevalent the older one gets here in the US:
While exact figures vary by population, lactose intolerance becomes much more common with age, with studies showing rates over 60% in older adults, particularly in those over 60, as the body produces less of the digestive enzyme lactase. Some research indicates higher percentages (around 46-50%) in older adults (50+), with rates increasing further in the elderly, sometimes reaching over 70% in certain groups, especially those with less dairy consumption.
I drink milk almost every day. I'm over 70 and have no problems with milk. I do put chocolate syrup in it when I drink it, but not when I have my bran cereal in the morning. The homemade chocolate milk is a bedtime treat.
You beat me to it. It seems to be contradictory to the rest of the chart if you were to look at dairy sources of fats alone. As a medical professional and researcher, I know that Orientals, like the Chinese and Japanese, have a much higher percentage of lactose intolerance in their populations. This also includes many Indigenous People groups. I also know that animal fats are needed for cognitive function. So, the main explanation for why China and some of these other populations that are lactose intolerant correlated to IQ would most likely be related to a higher consumption of fats from sea food - which these particular groups consume in higher quantities compared to the others that consumer more dairy.
As a side note: I am curious as to what the source was for China's IQ level. That kind of information would be in the hands of the CCP's official stats bureau. Anyone that spends any time dealing with the CCP's "official" stats knows that those numbers are often questionable because China habitually manipulates and beautifies the numbers - like with their GDP. That stat manipulation moves from the bottom up due to corruption. One really cannot trust the accuracy. China is driven by being number one, especially against the West. So take that number with a huge grain of salt.
I like the observation of healthy fats in a heavy seafood diet! (Notice Japan)
But your side note may tell the tell (they cheat). A nation that can't innovate and can barely recreate stolen technology that functions as well as the original... well that doesn't seem to me to be a high IQ society.
I completely agree. Healthy animal fats is not what vegans want to hear.
None of China's numbers can be trusted - even their population numbers are faked which in actuality are much lower than they claim. They have been using those faked demographics for decades to fool the West.
They cannot innovate - only copy - and they don't copy well in the areas of high end precision equipment and manufacturing. I am also sure the IQs of rural populations are not represented in their IQ stats. Many of those poor souls are dumber than a box of rocks. They often don't eat animal products of any kind except on very special occasions.
Humans were born intolerant years ago. For vitamin D and strong bones they thought it would be a good idea to feed it to people and get them to tolerate the lactose over time.

How do you explain China?
They cheat
Ha, ha! That's one answer.
I was thinking something like "the map also highly correlates to other things like 'access to clean running water' and 'access to electricity,' etc."
But you might be right.

I hear that is related to casein. Are we the only ones who put that in dairy?
Looks like a racial map
