They need to get rid of all the tech and nanny aides for starters. The emissions requirements are destroying reliability. GM can't even build a V8 anymore. You're rolling the dice buying used since maintenance is more important than ever. I plan on never buying a car past around 2010 unless I absolutely need it.
I know, I am blessed with an honest mechanic and an older car an 09 chevy. I have had to replace the breaks and the fuel pump in the car and I just bought new tires. He lets me know what needs fixing and what can wait he said my tires could wait a while but they weren't very good on snow and ice. He recommended the ones he uses on his shop cars for me and this winter they've been awesome I got four new tires for 700 bucks.
I mentioned buying a new car once and he said why? Your car is in really good condition.
I have an 06 Lexus. Over 200k miles on it. It needs front end work. My nephew (auto repair guy) told me if I was replacing it in next year, don't fix it, not worth it. Well, worth it TO ME. And not buying another vehicle. Mom is almost 85 and leaving me the car. I honestly don't know if I prefer newer. I love my car. And no Bluetooth- i don't think they can hack my car.
Stay away from the later RX 350 transverse 6 cylinder because they can hemorrhage oil from the front timing cover which was about 6 or 7,000 dollars to pull the engine and fix and repair.
Be me, driving car on highway have cruse control on just relaxing. Then ass clown cuts into my lane and the stupid car slams on the breaks. WTF. NOW IMAGINE THIS IN WET OR RAINING CONDITIONS. LET ME DRIVE MY CAR. STOP PUTTING PANIC CONTROLS INTO VEHICLES. PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN TO DRIVE IN CONDITIONS. NIT THIS ASSHOLE COMPUTER CONTROL BULLSHIT. Ever try to stop as the antisocial breaks kick in and take control over your driving. Fuck off.
70's cars are kind of dogs, as are 80's. It's when emissions started choking them off. Find yourself a 90's Toyota or Honda. They were some of the most reliable best built cars ever made. If you want to go MAGA a Crown Vic is pretty much indestructible.
Great cars but the plastic intake on the 4.6 was a really dumb idea. They are notorious for cracking and leaking coolant. Other than that issue, I drove mine right into the ground as they say.

Nobody can build shit anymore...on purpose.
Good luck with the transmission in ANYTHING now... total crap.

Thanks for the advice!
Don't get rid of that.

I recently bought a 2020 Dodge Ram & I love it. I did buy the extended warranty just in case.
I was just thinking about this yesterday, I think I'm going to find a car from the '70's.

It's not a crazy idea. Restored classic cars in like new condition still cost less than a brand new modern pos
That was my thought, exactly.
Here's some 70's cars.
