Their mayor publicly said in May 2025 that he would only hire black people. If a big-city mayor can get away with blatantly open racism he and his people can do anything they want. He did start to hire other races when he was hit with a Civil Rights investigation by the DOJ. I don't know if he hired any other races for any positions of authority or importance, but he did start. The DOJ investigation is still ongoing.
