I was so hopeful it would be phased out under his watch. This really saddens me.
Donald Trump has signed an executive order protecting production of glyphosate-based herbicides, such as Roundup, which some bodies and studies have linked to cancer and which are the subject of widespread US litigation.
The president’s move, which also seeks to provide “immunity” for makers of the herbicides, was strongly criticized by health and environmental advocates including some figures in the Make America Healthy Again (Maha) coalition.
The order also protects domestic production of phosphorus, which is used in making glyphosate and other agricultural chemicals, as well as a range of other products, including some in military defense.
Ensuring “robust domestic elemental phosphorus mining and United States-based production of glyphosate-based herbicides is central to American economic and national security”, the order states.
The 18 February order cites authority under the Defense Production Act and instructs US Department of Agriculture secretary Brooke Rollins to issue orders and regulations as “may be necessary to implement this order”.

I learned in school that phosphorous is the limiting factor to the amount of life there is on the planet. And it doesn't cycle through the ecosystem like so many elements. It just gets buried and stays there until we dig it up.

What is the justification?
Production would be shut down without it,i doubt he wants to shut down the majority of farms today.
Other methods would take time to scale up.
This is how we get solar farms instead of food. The locals all sold out crying unproductive fields. They killed them with pesticides and weed killer. Plants need a ecosystem to grow. Mycelium is vital to soil. Nothing can grow except GMO corn and they've destroyed the soil so much that won't even grow.

Lots. The demographic is mostly retired boomers on medicare and alcoholics. In my family alone I've had an aunt die, uncle with cancer, and both parents with heart problems. Cousins are always sick.
I live on a wildlife refuge. It looks like a rain forest. The farm fields look like deserts. Funny how if you just leave nature alone it works.

They liked to hang out in a shed where a old bottle of it spilled and turned to little dusty flakes. They were all dead within that same summer. Had to dampen it all, shop vac it, torch it and then bag and dispose of the entire (used) shop vac with its contents secured as reasonably possible. Even minor exposure to concentrate roundup is fucking horrific.
