As for Israel, its fast becoming irrelevant. To put it simply it's worship (to God), respect (veneration) to Saints and Mary. When we pray to God we are worshipping him. When we pray to Saints or Mary we are asking for their intercession, for them to pray for us to God. Simply put, if i asked you to put a good word into your boss so that I had a better chance of getting hired does not mean I'm worshipping you, I'm asking you for your help.
Idolatry would mean treating a created thing (like Mary, a statue, or anything else) as if it were God. giving it the worship that belongs only to God. The Catholic Church explicitly teaches that this is wrong and a sin.
So are you saying you worship everyone you've asked for help in your life because you asked for help? Or were you just asking for help? Because with your short sighted logic, anyone you've asked for help you've turned into an idol.
I've only prayed to God. Jesus said the temple of worship is his body. All these ornate buildings are obvious greed and corruption on display. I've never named any of my kids Jose or Mary either. I defy you to find a Hispanic female that doesn't have Mary in their name

I'm not sure that I agree. Though I'm not fully ruling that out. I can't think of the last time the church built something super elaborate and ornate. Most of the ornate stuff was built 100s of years ago. If it was out of greed I wouldn't spend 100 years to build something so ornate that I would never get to see or profit from. If it was out of greed I wouldn't blow all my money to only get small offerings in return. If it was out of greed, id build something minimalistic or at minimum not ornate --- like mega churches. What i do think is greed is all the charities and ngos built around churches now that we're learning they're basically money generating centers. Now all that being said, if i wanted to build something to honor God, to pay homage to even a fraction of his majesticness i would build something ornate that would pay homage, respect and inspiring. Though funny enough that all may miss the point of what Jesus was even about.

After seeing this train station in Iran, of all places, now go take a look at the subway in NYC. Its the most dirty broken down third-world environment you can find. Go to Japan. The trains there leave and arrive on the minute. I rode the bullet train once from Osaka to Tokyo. It was bizarre how you could not tell when the train began to move. We were going 400 MPH according to my phones GPS, but it didnt feel like we were going more than 100. The people of the USA have been scammed for decades. All thanks to the dems and rinos.
